The OG Southern Charm fans probably get shivers whenever they are reminded of the relationship between Thomas Ravenel and Kathryn Dennis. The pair were a mess from the start — and their on-again, off-again relationship was central to the show for many seasons. The couple had two kids together, which later sparked a massive and messy custody battle that played out in the public eye. But since Thomas’ Southern Charm days are over, Kathryn’s the last one standing in the spotlight. And bearing the burden of explaining the ins and outs of her personal life to fans of the show.
Thomas and Kathryn’s custody battle truly makes my stomach turn. I need to start off by making it clear that I am not in their relationship. I watch it just like everyone else, and we don’t know what happens behind closed doors. But I cannot imagine events that would lead Thomas to speak about the mother of his children in the way he has publically. He’s accused Kathryn of abusing drugs and alcohol many times in some extremely damning statements. He also said he’d rather his kids go into foster care than live with their mother, which is just a heartbreaking statement all around.
Kathryn has felt that she’s been manipulated by the legal system throughout her custody battle. She lost custody to Thomas earlier this year after a flurry of cocaine allegations arose. In general, Kathryn’s been pretty vulnerable about what it’s like to be a mother in her situation. And while I’m not taking sides, I just feel horrible for the two babies thrown in the middle of this mess.

Recently, Thomas threw a birthday party for his son Saint, whom he shares with Kathryn, according to The Sun. The party was an over-the-top bash attended by family and friends celebrating Saint’s 6th birthday. However, Kathryn was noticeably absent from the celebration. While I cannot prove this, something tells me Thomas purposefully left her off the guest list. But who really knows.
Saint’s actual birthday isn’t until later this month, so Kathryn didn’t post a birthday tribute yet to her son. She did share photos with her kids celebrating Halloween recently, though. On the night of Saint’s party, Kathryn shared a few snaps of a “game night” she had with friends while the celebration was going on in the meantime, so at least she kept herself busy for the moment.
