When Real Housewives of Atlanta “OG” NeNe Leakes announced that her husband, Gregg Leakes, passed away on September 1, 2021, after a long battle with colon cancer, it was heartbreaking. Gregg was the humorous voice of reason on RHOA. He was first diagnosed with cancer in 2018. In May of 2019, Gregg shared in an Instagram post that he was cancer-free. Unfortunately, in June of 2021, NeNe revealed that Gregg’s cancer had returned.
There was an outpouring of support and love from the Bravo-verse after Gregg’s passing. NeNe shared that Gregg’s final words to her were, “I’m not going to leave you. God is going to bless you.”
NeNe struggled to move forward without her husband. NeNe posted an Instagram Story where she gave an update about her life. “All the gentlemen that have been in my DMs, thank y’all too,” NeNe commented. “But anyway, hey, I love reading the messages. They are inspiring to say the least,” she quipped.
NeNe’s RHOA co-star Cynthia Bailey has a long and complicated relationship with NeNe. They started out as friends, but then feuded for years. Cynthia alleged that NeNe wanted her fired from the show.
So, when NeNe posted photos to her Instagram on September 19, 2021, hanging out with Cynthia, Marlo Hampton, and Lamar Odom at her lounge, it seemed like the former friends may be moving forward. NeNe left RHOA in 2019. Cynthia announced that she was leaving the franchise in October of 2021 after she was only offered a Friends of the Housewives role. I am having trouble imagining the show without these two long-time cast members.
But Cynthia better hold up on offering NeNe a crisp new friendship contract. According to Page Six, NeNe came for her RHOA co-stars in an interview on V-103. The Neighborhood Talk shared the interview on its Instagram page.
“During Gregg’s passing every Housewife in the entire franchise, you know, reached out to me,” NeNe said in a video clip. “[Cynthia] didn’t even come to the repast. She did come like a week later after everything was done.”

NeNe added, “She came by my lounge. It’s really hard to explain ‘Housewives.’ It’s almost like a dysfunctional family,” NeNe commented. That’s putting it mildly.
NeNe also wasn’t pleased with the condolence gift that she received from her fellow Bravo stars. NeNe remarked, “Actually I was surprised because the first set of flowers I got was a bouquet from like all the Housewives, like they went in together. I’m like, ‘Why do y’all need to go in together and buy some damn flowers? If all y’all work … you can spend your own $200,'” the RHOA alum said. “That’s the way I’ve always been.” Wow. I may not always agree with NeNe, but I do in this case.
Cynthia told Page Six in a prior interview that she was out of town at the time of Gregg’s funeral service. “I’m really glad, honestly looking back, that I didn’t make it to the actual celebration [of life] because I think if I had, I never would have had the moment that I got to have with her just hanging out with her at her lounge and pretty much closing the place down,” Cynthia explained. “We really got to spend some one-on-one time together. And I know that wouldn’t have happened had I been there with everyone else,” the model added.
