There are few downfalls that happened as swiftly as that of former Vanderpump Rule’s star Stassi Schroeder. When the show premiered back in 2013, she was a true main character. She had a toxic relationship with Jax Taylor and an attitude to match. Stassi regularly called herself the devil and she sure lived up to that reputation. But through the years, she evolved. After being cheated on one too many times, she dumped Jax and moved on. Her friendships, also toxic, mostly survived and allowed her to always be part of the story line. She finally found love with now husband, Beau Clark.
She got engaged, had a successful podcast, and a best selling book. She bought a million dollar house and life seemed pretty good. Then it all came crashing down on her. Stassi’s past mean girl antics finally caught up with her. It was revealed that Stassi and best frenemy Kristen Doute accused cast member Faith Stowers (who is Black) of resembling a woman wanted of theft. It wasn’t an innuendo – they even called the cops on Faith. Stassi and Kristen were accusing a Black woman of being a thief (she absolutely was not) and bragged about it. So Stassi went from mean girl to doing serious harm to a Black woman and Bravo couldn’t let this one slide. It wasn’t good drama anymore, it was flat out wrong.
Stassi lost her job, her podcast, online sponsors and her PR team. Pregnant and out of a job, Stassi tried to spin the narrative, claiming she learned from her mistake. But the damage was done and only her diehard fans were willing to accept her totally insincere apology. Stassi was “cancelled.” And now she’s trying to capitalize on it. The Instagram account Bravo By Betches recently shared a post describing Stassi’s new book in the works. Slated for a possible release next year, it’s titled Off With My Head: The Definitive Basic Bitch Handbook To Surviving Rock Bottom.

Can I just tell you how hard I am cringing already? The title is a masterclass in victimhood, implying that Stassi is a casualty of an angry mob. Also, who actually needs a “basic bitch” handbook on surviving rock bottom? How is that different from just being a regular person surviving rock bottom? So many questions, none of which really need to be answered.
According to the overview, “The New York Times bestselling author of Next Level Basic and fan-favorite alumna of Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules returns from cancellation and pregnancy with the definitive Basic Bitch handbook for surviving bad days (or years).” Barf. And I’m not the only one who had that reaction.
The comments are full of annoyed viewers, who I’m guessing will not be buying the book. One user commented, “PEOPLE WITH BOOK DEALS HAVEN’T BEEN CANCELED.” Another user added, “I wouldn’t call that rock bottom.” One account simply replied, “Pass.”
Obviously Stassi needs a source of income. But Stassi has likely taken the “basic bitch” formula as far as it will go. After all, no one wants to be a basic bitch. Especially one who hasn’t learned their lesson.
