The Real Housewives as a franchise is seeing more and more legal issues popping up. It’s almost like Teresa Giudice walked so Erika Jayne could run. And now we come to Jen Shah of the very new franchise Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Only in its second season and already a hit, we didn’t think it could get better. Until Jen was arrested that is. Now look, I’m not excited when a housewife is in legal trouble. But it’s hard to hold judgement when a very flashy and self absorbed housewife comes under fire for alleged swindling. Did Jen ever explain what she did to become so rich in season 1? No. And it always seemed a little shady anyway.
But not everyone is taking sides against Jen. Lisa Barlow, who so far seems to have some kind of strange blind loyalty to Jen, isn’t changing her mind anytime soon. As reported by We Should Talk, Lisa did just that. Lisa explained why she is standing by Jen in the midst of allegations of swindling the elderly in a telemarketing scheme. Said Lisa, “I’m a big believer in the fact that we have all been begging for social change and for innocence until proven guilty, especially over the last two years [with] what we’ve experienced as a country.”
She continued, “I think we need to be considerate of Jen and just say that she is innocent until proven guilty. I’m not a lawyer, I’m not a juror and I’m definitely not a judge. As much as I’ve been accused of judging people, I don’t judge anybody. I hold myself super accountable for everything, but I don’t think it’s my job to judge anybody. Jen’s circumstances don’t change who I am as a person and how I’m going to treat her as a person. I’ve been very consistent in that.”

Lisa concluded of their relationship, “Is Jen always easy? No. Is Jen my friend? Yes. Does Jen deserve due process? 100%. I hope people go into this season open-minded and give her a chance to show a different side of herself and that they’re open to that and understand that she’s going through the fight of her life. We all go through our different struggles, and Jen is fighting for her freedom.”
While I would like to admire friends standing by friends, you have to admit that the allegations against Jen are pretty bad. But likening Jen to some kind of freedom fighter is truly bizarre. Jen is a rich lady who is accused of getting rich off the backs of unsuspecting victims. Maybe Lisa knows something we don’t but if you ask me, it sounds like just another wealthy woman who refuses to see her friend for what she is.
