Brendan Morais is really feeling the loss of all those followers. Us Weekly reports that Brendan “followed through on his promise to release a ‘full statement and apology’ for his controversial appearance on season 7 of Bachelor in Paradise.” And boy did he release a full statement and apology.
To recap, Brendan and Pieper James tried to play the long con on Bachelor in Paradise this season. Brendan got to the beach first, and while he was waiting for Pieper to show up, started a relationship with Natasha Parker. Once Pieper made it to paradise, Brendan dropped Natasha like a hot potato, accused her of having “no prospects,” and started to write a love story based on followers and sponsorships with Pieper.
“I just wanted to take a quick second and speak on what transpired in Paradise, hopefully give a little bit of context and clarity to the situation,” Brendan begins in the long apology video he posted to Instagram. “I wanted to apologize to you, Natasha. I never meant to hurt you, I never meant to lead you on. I truthfully and honestly enjoyed spending time with you,” he said.
Brendan continued on, saying he, “absolutely went to paradise a single man.” He also emphatically stated that he and Pieper did not “have an elaborate plan,” simply because, he admitted, he’s “not the smartest person in the world.” Whatever ideas him and Pieper had about going on the show, “went horrible in every way,” he confessed.
Us Weekly outlined that Brendan also, “went on to address his fellow contestants’ accusation that he agreed to do the show just to increase his fame,” by stating, “if I wanted the max amount of followers, I would not have pursued Pieper or Natasha. I would have went after a girl with a million followers.” Okay that actually cracks me up!
He garbled out some more words, saying “everyone saying I’m there for TV and all that stuff is just ironic and silly, as they’re mic’d up and in an interview with a camera in their face saying that I’m there for TV, but fully understanding that they’re speaking to a camera that’s going to air their words on TV.”
These definitely aren’t sentences, but I get the gist of what he’s saying. While this is an unpopular opinion, I agree with Brendan here. All of these people go on The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, and BIP to gain followers and endorsement deals. If you think it’s for love or any other reason, I have a bridge to sell you.
Brendan concluded by saying, “I know that I’m a good person, I know I’m a good man, but I need to continue to grow and that’s that.” Good job, Brendan. This totally sounds like a meaningful apology. Not.
