It’s hard to believe that Netflix’s Love Is Blind came out two years ago. While Netflix has pumped out plenty of other dating shows since, there was something different about this one. Taking a more serious tone, couples weren’t allowed to see each other until well into their relationship. With a few even proposing marriage before even laying eyes on each other. Once they got to the altar, they had to reveal if they would actually say “I do” or not. Some said yes and stayed together, others said “I don’t”, shocking their partner.
One such couple was Jessica Batten and Mark Cuevas. While they seemed like a decent match, Jessica could never get over their age difference. Which she brought up ad nauseam. So when they finally got to the altar, Mark wanted to get married and Jessica famously said no thanks.
There is renewed interest in the show, thanks to Love Is Blind: After The Altar, which meets up with the with the couples two years later. And Jessica is sharing a shocking secret that she and Mark actually had an agreement to not get married.
Jessica spoke with E! News and admitted, “We really had an agreement on the show. We knew that we weren’t going to work out in the end, so on that day, we were not planning on saying yes. When everything went down and he was crying on his mom and everything like that, it was a huge shock to me.” Jessica said that Mark even text her the next day to apologize for all the betrayal.” But when the show aired, it only showed Mark’s side of the story.

Jessica went on, “When this all played out, it was a totally different story than the one I had to get through. Because to me, that was my guy. We were best of friends too, and I was kind of hanging in there to see what could happen with us. When that played out, I really couldn’t believe it.”
But despite all that, Jessica has no ill will towards Mark. According to her, “I’m super, super happy for [ex Mark].” Mark has since moved on to a fiance and baby boy, so Jessica isn’t living in the past. She said, “I thought at some point maybe he would have the courage to come out and tell the real story, especially with the shame I was going through. Life moves on.”
Yes it does. Especially for this cast.
