Kelly Dodd Compares Herself To Howard Stern; Rick Leventhal Says “There’s No One More Popular Than Kelly

Kelly Dodd, Kelly Dodd, Kelly Dodd. What are going to do with you? Since the announcement of her firing, Kelly has been ripping through the media doing her best to smear her replacementHeather Dubrow. She’s also gone on quite the anti-Braunwyn Windham-Burke campaign too (though that’s hardly news). While Kelly will be off our screens during the upcoming season of Real Housewives of Orange County, it looks like we have yet another orange-clinger.

Kelly will be joining the gone-but-won’t-leave-us-alone ranks with her former co-stars Tamra Judge and Vicki Gunvalson. Is there any other franchise with this many lurkers? Am I the only one feeling awkward?

Well, if you aren’t feeling uncomfortable by Kelly’s delusions yet, try to remember this moment. Savor it. We’re about to dive in. As a part of her exit-tour Kelly and her husband, Rick Leventhal, made a stop to Jeff Lewis Live on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy. Jeff Lewis dove in head-first with the questions. He asked, “So this was not an elective departure? No. Okay. So how, what happened exactly? Like, did you know? Okay, so I remember we read about it, I think two weeks ago. It was everywhere. Did you know before it was announced publicly?”<

“No, I had no idea. It was actually, I was blindsided,” Kelly revealed. Rick added, “She knew, she knew when she got a phone call and then it got out.”

Jeff asked if Kelly was told the same day that the news broke to the public. Kelly confirmed it all happened on that same day. Rick, who is no longer a fan of fake news added, “It was that night, I think.”

Kelly broke it down for the listeners and explained, “Okay. So, one of the owners of Evolution, the production company, they, they’re the ones who pay us. We really deal with Evolution. We really don’t deal with Bravo at all. And, he called me and he said, ‘I would hate to say this.’ And I’m like, ‘oh,’ he’s like, ‘but we are not going to ask you back for next season.’ And I said, ‘well, why was it political?’”

Um, there’s a huge difference between political differences and straight up damaging or offensive comments. The fact that she’s repeatedly apologized yet now is claiming these issues are merely “political” is exactly why no one believes the endless redemption arc.

Kelly continued,  “And he said, ‘no, Bravo wanted to take a different direction than, than, than you.’ And I said, ‘okay, well, was my, what was it? Like was it my Q ratings were, were, what was it that….”

After Jeff asked Kelly to explain Q ratings, Rick interrupted. Rick announced, “It’s a popularity, a measure of popularity for people on TV. And, and my thought on that was that there’s no one more popular than her. Even if people hate her, they love to hate her, they love to watch her. And she was the brightest spark on that show. I have to say, when that phone call came, I was very surprised because even though she’s been so controversial, she’s still great television.” Whatever makes you sleep at night, pal.

Then Kelly got her chance to speak. She added, “So what you want, right? You want somebody to love to hate you, or you want people to really love you. And I have a lot of like, you know, 800,000 followers on Instagram, 200 on Twitter, and then a lot on Facebook, but I have a million followers and they are diehard like fans, and they love me.” A million diehard fans yet she can’t even keep a side-hustle going. Alright.

Kelly then began to play with the numbers a little. She said,  “And then I have, then I have this little group of people that are the cancel culture that hate me. And so they’re the loud ones.” Ah yes. The “silent majority” claim. She continued, “They’re the, actually the ones that can’t afford to. Yeah. The woke, broke people. So yeah, they love to hate me. So, and that’s fine.” Sure sounds fine. And here’s the reader’s gentle reminder that cancel-culture is a myth. As evidenced here, by Kelly with her “million” die-hard fans with a sinking platform.

Kelly continued the rant, “You want that too, right? You don’t want fricking milk toast. Right? So anyways, I said to him, I said, ‘uh, well, can you tell me my Q ratings?’ Because listen, this is a business we’re here to sell advertising. This is how we make the money. Right. I mean, pushing the needle. So I said, ‘was it because I, I was a popular enough or what was it?’ And he said, ‘this is the first time ever that Bravo did not share your Q ratings with us. All of you guys.’ Then Rick goes’ well, that’s interesting. What does that tell you?’”

Rick told listeners what he meant. He explained, “My theory is, is that her Q score was, was super high and it didn’t support them taking her off the show. So they didn’t share that information. But that said, it’s their choice to make, you know. And if they don’t want her back, they don’t want her back.” Ding, ding, ding! Even terrible people have followers, Kelly. Get it yet?

Jeff tried to help connect the dots saying,”It could have been personal, there could have a few executives maybe, did you insult a few executives?” This left Kelly with no choice. She admitted, “Yes, I did. Listen, ultimately I got fired because of myself, I’m the one who got myself fired.” FINALLY!

Kelly added, “I was like Howard Stern with WNBC. I had the executives calling me and Emily [Simpson]’s like, ‘who are they?’ And I’m like ‘well, they know me and I know them.’ I was causing them a lot of grief. I was causing them a lot of trouble. And you know, I’m sorry about that. Like, I feel bad.” Yet another apology from our former-orange. Can’t wait to see if any action follows this one. Let’s not hold our breath.

TELL US – DO YOU THINK KELLY IS ACTUALLY SORRY FOR HOW SHE TREATED EXECS NOW THAT SHE’S BEEN FIRED? WILL HER MILLION DIE-HARD FOLLOWERS STOP WATCHING WITHOUT HER?
