Everyone watching this season of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is holding their breath to find out more tea about Erika Jayne’s legal situation. Her divorce from Tom Girardi came at a questionable time, as it coincided with the longtime lawyer facing fraud and embezzlement charges. Mrs. Girardi claimed her 81-year-old husband was cheating on her, but everyone’s wondering whether or not it’s all a sham attempt at protecting their assets.
Tom is being accused of embezzling more than $26 million dollars to victims of horrific accidents and their families, including orphaned children. He can’t practice law anymore, his health is failing and he’s losing his home. Meanwhile, as of episode two, Erika is still prancing around her closets filled with designer clothes (probably deciding what to sell) and hanging with her $40k a month glam squad. It’s left a gross taste in everyone’s mouth to watch.
The big question is whether or not Erika was aware of Tom misappropriating legal funds to afford their lavish lifestyle and her wannabe pop music career. Miss XXPen$ive is doubling down that she didn’t know anything, but I’m with Sutton Stracke on whether or not I believe that. Evidence against Erika, including her signatures on a few questionable documents, point otherwise. But she’s saying she’s nothing but a scapegoat.
The RHOBH ladies claim Erika is open and honest about her divorce this season, but I’ll believe it when I see it. Erika’s honest seems to differ from the truth, and we know aside from Sutton, these ladies will have her back and cover for her no matter what. She’s not Denise Richards, after all. Well, maybe not newbie Crystal Kung Minkoff, since she’s also had her own run-in with the law. Although her issue was just a traffic violation that ended up being a hilarious story 20 years later.
Apparently, I wasn’t the only one skeptical that RHOBH will show the whole story, as ABC News also is eager to find out the truth. People announced on Wednesday that ABC will be releasing an original documentary about the Girardi’s legal saga. Dubbed The Housewife and the Hustler, it will release on Hulu June 14. And the first trailer stirs up quite the hype.

The documentary will feature legal experts, Real Housewives stars and some defendants in the case against Tom to talk about all the scandals involving their divorce. Heather McDonald also appears to ask what’s on everyone’s mind, “The biggest question is: Did she know?”
People reports that the film will include voicemails, court records and a never-before-aired deposition tape of Tom, so it’s giving us the real tea STRAIGHT from the source. Looks like the feds will have to add another show aside from RHOBH to their must-watch list. It begs the question if we’ll be getting a follow-up documentary about the Jen Shah fraud case. Teresa Giudice is probably happy no one was interested in exposing the ins and outs of her legal drama on camera back in the day.
