Barrie Drewitt-Barlow and his family ran the crew of Parsifal ragged. They were very vocal about food preferences and demanded plated meals for their brood. Chef Natasha De Bourg struggled under the time management. The beach picnic was a bust too and if it weren’t for Jean-Luc Cerza Lanaux, Barrie wouldn’t have had anything to rave about. No one on Below Deck Sailing Yacht was sorry to see the family of nine leave.
This eccentric group were obviously accustomed to a high standard, one which should come with a certain level of discretion. But at one point during the charter, chief stew Daisy Kelliher was sharing tabloid fodder about them. When the episode aired, Barrie was none to pleased to see the crew gossiping about his family. Especially since he claimed the information Daisy found is not entirely accurate.
To be fair, it’s a bit outrageous that Barrie ended up dating his daughter boyfriend Scott Hutchison. They even got engaged during the charter. It wasn’t exactly a secret. This is a family that was covered by the tabloids for years, and showed up to be filmed on a reality TV show.
At the time of Barrie’s split from his husband, he shared this statement with the British tabloid, the Sun.
“I’ve fallen in love with Scott and he has done the same,” Barrie said, “I feel stupid at my age to have these feelings about someone other than Tony and half my age. But when you know something is right, it’s right. We have not made definite plans but I would like to marry Scott.”
A VERY MODERN FAMILY: Britain’s first gay dads have split after 32 years together-after one fell for their daughter’s boyfriend,” according to The Sun.

It’s this article that likely came up when Daisy googled Barrie on the show. She was only reading the title, one that Barrie did not dispute at the time it was published. However, according to ShowbizCheatSheet.com, he did say after it was published that he cooperated with the author of the article because, “there were a lot of untruths in the information she had, and they were going to run a story anyway. It made more sense to actually work with her to get the truth.”
So Barrie confirmed the information of the article yet he found Daisy’s actions offensive. “That was very very irresponsible of her to say” he said, “it has caused so many issues.”
So where was Daisy The Sun article misinformed?
First, Saffron was not a victim of the situation. She claimed on Instagram she knew Scott was gay from the start. “Scott told me he was gay years ago, and I agreed to help him keep his secret by pretending to be his girlfriend.”
“That was not a nice thing to do, telling viewers that my affair with Scott broke up my relation with Tony was false,” Barrie explained, “we were all furious when we saw that scene because it just was not true at all.”
For her part, Daisy felt Barrie’s misunderstood her intentions.
“Yeah, I was upset of course. I thought it was a bit harsh,” Daisy responded on social media, “I never meant to upset anyone. I got over it pretty quick though. It’s what we signed up for putting ourselves out in the public. If you can’t take the heat get out of the kitchen!”
