Real Housewives Alum Kara Keough Announces Birth Of Son, One Year After Tragic Loss

Veteran Bravo viewers are familiar with former Real Housewives of Orange County star Jeana Keough’s children. Shane Keough attempted to “find his way” during his teen years. Like his father Matt Keough, Shane was striving to make baseball a part of his career, but his sass mouth was what got him attention on the show. Fans will be able to catch up with Shane when he visits Andy Cohen for the Watch What Happens Live special featuring Bravo kids.

Jeana also had another son, Colton Keough. Colton was “the shy one” who also hoped to follow in his dad’s footsteps. Jeana’s only daughter Kara Keough was a smart, level headed volleyball player who didn’t go the way of other RHOC daughters. Kara went to college and eventually got married to former NFL linebacker, Kyle Bosworth. Together they share a little girl, Decker and were set to welcome a son in April 2020. A heartbreaking loss was suffered after the baby lost oxygen during the birth, changing Kara and Kyle’s life forever. But Kara’s story does not end there, she just added another chapter.

After Kara’s baby, McCoy Casey Bosworth experienced “shoulder dystocia and a compressed umbilical cord” during the birth process, attempts to save McCoy’s life were not successful. It was a devastating outcome for the family. Kara shared her grief with fans and became a voice of support for other women who have suffered the loss of a child.

When Kara told the world she was pregnant again, one little detail was left out. What we didn’t know was Kara was literally about to pop. It gives me such great pleasure to share Kara has made McCoy and Decker big siblings. The wonderful announcement was revealed on Kara’s Instagram. She wrote, “The day McCoy was born, I started writing a story. Our story. I don’t typically like to spoil the ending, but in this case the ending is a new beginning.”

Along with several photos of a snuggled up bundle of love, Kara added, “Introducing Decker and McCoy’s baby brother: Vaughn Mack Bosworth. Measuring at 20.5 inches and weighing 7 pounds 6 ounces of heaven-sent sweetness.” Vaughn was born six days before what would have been McCoy’s first birthday, a bittersweet, yet appropriate nod to his life. “Born on 3.31.21 in Room 11, 6 days before what should have been his big brother’s 1st birthday. His name means ‘small/little’ and ‘hope’. It’s not lost on us that if we hadn’t lost Mack, we’d never know Vaughn. And yet, here he is, an unexpected serendipity. A little hope.”

Kara is one hell of a woman. She has handled possibly the worst experience a mother could have and turned it into a way to help other moms who have shared similar outcomes. Kara experienced grief but didn’t let it beat her. She kept going and was granted another gift. While Kara will never get over the loss of McCoy, now she and her family have what everyone ultimately deserves, “a little hope”. Welcome to the world, Vaughn!
