Bravo Slams Kenya Moore For Wearing Native American Halloween Costume; Kenya Said Outfit Was “Part Of” Her Heritage Before Apologizing

Was anyone else in shock to see Kenya Moore for dressing as a “Native American” during the most recent episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta?

That was filmed in 2020, so it was just pretty surprising to see. Of course, many people were offended by Kenya’s choice of “costume.”

At first, Kenya defended herself in a now-deleted tweet where she claimed that that it was “part of [her] heritage.” Did she take a 23 & Me test that none of us were aware of?

Bravo didn’t condemn Kenya for the outfit because we all know how the network loves to pick and choose who should be held accountable. However, the network’s official account did comment on this Instagram post, with a response to the episode.

Bravo commented, “Bravo aims to have the highest standards of respect and inclusivity and we recognize that the recent episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, in which a cast member wears a Native American costume, did not uphold those values.”

The statement continued, “We had hoped it would provide a teachable moment, however in retrospect it is clear that the network did not address this properly given the gravity of the situation. We apologize to both the Native American community and our audience as a whole.”

It’s just odd that Bravo didn’t post this on its own website or any of its own social media accounts. But, again, Bravo likes to pick and choose who should be held accountable.

Finally, after days of backlash, Kenya tweeted an apology. She began, “I want to sincerely apologize for inappropriately wearing the Native American headdress as a costume. I now realize that this was both disrespectful and insensitive and would never have done it if I had that knowledge and understanding beforehand.”

Kenya concluded,  “I regret it. When you know better you do better. I am genuinely sorry.”
