The #freebritney movement for pop star Britney Spears has been picking up a lot of steam lately thanks to her recent conservatorship hearing. Social media has been flooded with hashtags to support the singer. Ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake even issued a long-awaited apology to her as well.
But plenty of people are looking to capitalize off the recent news about Britney. Such as one particular housewife, who we know happens to be one of the most tone deaf of them all.
Real Housewives of New York’s Ramona Singer has a long history of problematic social media posts and she’s not stopping anytime soon. In the midst of partying maskless in Florida, Ramona found time to make Britney’s plight a plug for herself.
In a recent Instagram post, Ramona threw up a photo of herself when she appeared on Lip Sync Battle to lip sync to Britney. She donned Brit’s iconic red latex catsuit for the event, which is featured in the picture. The photo, clearly from a magazine clip, reads, “RED-HOT She did it again! Rocking the same catsuit she wore last Halloween, Real Housewife RAMONA SINGER channeled her inner Britney Spears on Lip Sync Battle.”

Ramona captioned it with the hashtag “FreeBritney!!!” I’m not sure what Ramona was trying to accomplish here, outside of show off her penchant for being inconsiderate. Just when I thought maybe I was being too hard on her, social media quickly agreed. Her comments were flooded with those who saw right through this sad attempt at getting attention off of the Britney movement. Britney and her fans have been trying to remove her father Jamie Spears from her conservatorship.
One commenter wrote, “I know you didn’t use this picture girl…” Another chided, “Ramona, always making this about you!!” Someone else simply told her, “Delete your account.”

As the hate continued, one fan wrote, “I’m not even surprised you made this about you.” Another took the time to explain just how wrong this was and said, “Using Britney’s despair to post on your social media? Unfollowing.” Finally, she had one fan who seemed conflicted, and commented, “This is slightly distasteful, but damn you look good tho.”
It’s really no surprise that Ramona posted something that would get her some traction. And maybe that was the plan after all. I suppose all press is good press in Ramona’s world?
