Real Housewives of Dallas recap

Stephanie Hollman Was Surprised Brandi Redmond Returned To Real Housewives Of Dallas For Season 5 After She Made Video Mocking Asians

During the Real Housewives of Dallas Season 4 reunion, Brandi Redmond claimed that she was so upset with LeeAnne Locken for her comments about Kary Brittingham’s Mexican heritage that she walked off stage and grabbed a folding chair, demanding that LeeAnne sat there instead because she didn’t want to be on the same couch.

After taping that reunion, a video resurfaced of Brandi mocking Asians, doing what she thought was a “comedic” impression and squinting her eyes. Pot, meet kettle. After that, Brandi received backlash and then she checked into a wellness center. On the show, Brandi told Stephanie Hollman that she had suicidal thoughts as she dealt with the fallout from the scandal. Tiffany Moon, who is Chinese, spoke to Brandi about how the video made her feel on the first day that they met. Talk about setting the tone.

Stephanie discussed the video Brandi made during an ET interview. She said, “For Brandi, it was something that for some reason I guess she thought she was making a joke.”

Stephanie continued, “It was just a really stupid decision that she did and she has to live with the consequences, and she has to apologize and make things right and learn from it and grow from it. But I think intent matters in the world, I really do, and it wasn’t done with hate in her heart and it wasn’t done to be mean to somebody.” Oh, girl. There’s so much more to it than that. Regardless of the intent, that video was not OK. Comments like that stick with people for the rest of their lives, which Tiffany explained to Brandi during their one-on-one conversation.

Stephanie said, “Brandi went and sought help, and she is trying to be a better person.” She claimed that her bestie is “really trying to learn.” She even believes that “people will see that throughout the season.”

The queen of lockers insisted, “It wasn’t just her throwing up a blanket apology. She is making choices in her life to really better herself and move forward in a better way.”

Stephanie claimed, “I was surprised she came back this year at some points, because she struggled with it.” There’s no way Brandi would actually step away from the show. Almost no one actually “steps away” from the show. Those decisions are made for them by the network and production company.

“It’s a hard thing, I think, for her to put out there, and she knew it would bring up a lot of things and it was a tough decision for her to make to come back,” Stephanie said.

She concluded, “I don’t know if she’s always glad she did, but I think she’s glad she stared it in the face and was at least able to apologize to the audience and people she offended.”
