Cameran Eubanks shocked fans when she told us that she wasn’t coming back for the latest season of Southern Charm. And sure, the show has survived without her. But let’s face it, it’s not the same without her. Cam was not only an OG, but she was the narrator and voice of reason for all her messy castmates. Now there really is no voice of reason, just a big ole southern friend mess.
But what fans really want to know is why Cam made such a hasty exit from the show. It happened right around the time that castmate and one-time adversary, Kathryn Dennis had a racially charged scandal. But more importantly around that time, cheating rumors about Cam’s husband, Jason Wimberly, began to surface. And who was accused of being behind them? None other than Kathryn herself. Maybe Kathryn jumped on the chance to take some of the heat off herself?
Cam recently told Us Weekly that despite this fact, she had plans to leave the show months before anyway. According to Cam, “I had made my decision before all the rumors and all that started. Everybody tries to make it about that, but it wasn’t.”
Either way, I’m sure she has no love lost for Kathryn over this. Cam says she doesn’t even watch the show and hasn’t spoken with Kathryn at all. Cam continued, “I never talked to her about it. You know, I ultimately let it go. At the end of the day, I try to be a realist about reality television. This is what you sign up for.” Ok, well, Cam is definitely a bigger person than me. I would most certainly not let that one slide.

But Cam is onto bigger and better things, which includes a book she recently wrote. She explained, “There are a lot of positives that come out of it. It gives you a platform. Like, I wrote a book and I’m talking to you because I was on Southern Charm.”
She went on to admit, “But the negatives are that stuff like this happens. There are rumors started, there’s all this vitriol and fighting. And that’s part of the reason that I had to get out of it. So in a sense, I get it. It’s par for the course.”
Well, it sounds like Cam has a very down to earth perspective on this. I don’t know if she worked out all of her anger in her book or in therapy but it sounds like she’s in a good place. And that she doesn’t need Southern Charm to be there.
