Meredith Marks Says Coronavirus And Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City Saved Her Marriage

Real Housewives of Salt Lake City has definitely edged it way up to the top of my franchise list. While it hasn’t even wrapped it’s first season, I am finding myself in love. The vibe is different, the scenery is nice and well, the housewives are anything but boring. We have had more catfights than I know what to do with, mostly involving Jen Shah.

One such fight was on the latest episode, where we saw Jen being accused of spreading rumors about the state of Meredith Marks’ marriage. It’s true that Meredith was separated from her husband, Seth Marks, at the time. But only bestie/castmate Lisa Barlow was privy to that information. But Jen just couldn’t help but speculate and that didn’t bode well for Meredith and the rest of the women. Meredith admitted that her marriage did reconcile, but seems like it was helped along by the most unlikely of circumstances.

Meredith recently spoke with Page Six and credits both RHOSLC and the coronavirus of all things, for saving her marriage. Said Meredith, “I think I’m probably the only one in the world who can say ‘Housewives,’ coupled with COVID, saved my marriage.” She claims that quarantine was actually “really good” for the couple.

Meredith explained, “I think had [the pandemic] happened six months prior, it would have ended in divorce.” She continued, “But because we had gone through this whole process, both in our marital therapy and the process of ‘Housewives’ — which really forced us to communicate in ways that we really had just been avoiding and denying — we were at a place already by the time that COVID hit, where we were actually really communicating with each other well and understanding and respecting each other’s feelings, which had not been the case for years.”

Meredith also credits therapy for reconnecting the couple after being disconnected for so long in their 25 year marriage. She elaborated, “… Anyone I know who’s getting married, I have strongly encouraged them to go into therapy prior to getting married. It was such a process for us learning how to communicate and respect one another’s feelings rather than criticize or get defensive or whatever.”

While Meredith is well aware of the curse of divorce for housewives, she says that’s why she’s not taking one specific step. She joked, “That’s part of the reason we will not do a vow renewal. I’m not pushing my luck here. If we ever decide to, it’s definitely not going to be on television. It will be very private.”

I’m happy for Meredith. Not only do I like her on the show, but I think her marriage is a good one. It’s hard to come back from separation but they did it, all on national TV. If only so many other housewives were so lucky.
