It should be common knowledge by now that when signing up for a reality show, you are basically signing your life away. And you’re opening the door to all of the skeletons you’ve worked so hard to hide from your Facebook friends. Now that Dr. Wendy Osefo, BA, MSc, PhD, NoOneCares has finished her first season on Real Housewives of Potomac, she’s realizing not everything stays under the radar.
If you didn’t know, Wendy holds multiple academic achievements and often appears on MSNBC. She descends from Nigerian royalty and has quite a reputation to maintain. Dr. Wendy has a lot on her plate, but managed to stand out on RHOP thanks to the impressive credentials she rarely mentions. But those closet skeletons have a way of creeping out at some point. So while we know Wendy has four degrees, three kids, and a big house – now we find out she also has $1.5 million in debt.
The streets are saying the full cast is returning next season, so Dr. Wendy allegedly won’t be one and done. And you know what that means, sophomore year is when a target is on your back. Luckily, the Potomac ladies are a warehouse of issues and nothing is really off the table. Both Karen Huger and Robyn Dixon have struggled with taxes. Both Ashley Darby and Robyn have struggled with relationship issues. And bless her heart, Gizelle Bryant is just sitting in her house where a Delia*s store apparently exploded and rendered her to live in 1996 forever.
Now Wendy is hopping on the struggle bus with some financial issues of her own. According to Showbiz CheatSheet, the good doctor has some bad debt. So don’t let the big house and lavish lifestyle fool you. Per the article, “Although she [Wendy] has more than one gig, Osefo and her husband owe well over seven figures since not all of her jobs are as high-paying as one would think. The reason for the debt, though, may not be as irresponsible as some fans may assume. Osefo, whose net worth is $1.5 million, has student loans to pay, which isn’t too surprising given her extensive education.”

Ah the burden of school loans. This is not at all surprising given Dr. Wendy attended Temple, Johns Hopkins, and Rutgers Universities respectively. At least she isn’t in the hole because she avoided Uncle Sam. And it’s not like she set her American Express on fire during a low moment at Bergdorf’s. At the end of the day, Wendy has debt but it is far from scandalous. Stars, they’re just like us!
Wendy wasn’t exactly a fan favorite, and she definitely had some personality conflicts her first time out – but I doubt the money thing will turn into a storyline. This is more of something that will be used as light ammunition during a dinner conversation that goes left. We won’t be impressed until her mom swats at her with a purse or she flings some vino across the room. In the interim, hopefully the Bravo check will ease any residual pain of earning the PhD she never talks about.
