So yea. It’s not really news that Kelly Dodd is fully off her rocker these last few months. The quick summary is that she’s constantly spewing “jokes” and comments minimizing the impact of COVID-19. Then she apologizes. Then she does it again. Then she lashes out at fans. Then she apologizes again. Then she makes more stupid comments. Round and round we go.
Has Kelly been a gift to the Real Housewives of Orange County franchise while we were struggling to make it through the useless tres-amigas years? Yes. Now that they’re gone is she a necessary evil? I’m not so sure.
Emily Simpson shared her thoughts on this question with Entertainment Tonight. She quickly jumped into excuse mode and said, “I think Kelly is just Kelly, and I think she has a good heart and I think she’s a good person and I think people are quick to jump on her and criticize her.” Imagine saying that about a woman who called your husband a “little bitch” to his face. Go ahead. I’ll give you a minute…
Okay now that that’s over, Emily also said “Kelly does say things that are insensitive and can be taken the wrong way, and I get that, but the thing about Kelly that makes her such a good reality star, per se, is the fact that she’s completely unfiltered at all times.” Okay so she’s great for reality TV but simply awful for humanity…is that the argument here?

Poor socially confused Emily added, “When she’s on a show and she tells somebody off, and she’s completely unhinged, people think it’s amazing and call her a queen…but when she’s the same way about something going on in life, they don’t like what she says. So, it’s just… it’s who she is. She’s not going to be politically correct on one hand and then, like, outrageous on the show. She’s always going to be outrageous.”
Uh. I think people called Kelly a “queen” because she went for the necks of women who co-faked cancer and used terms like “naked wasted” when trying to get their grotesque children laid. But go off.

Emily also wishes viewers would stop worrying about what the Housewives are doing on social media and just enjoy the show for its entertainment value. She said, “I think it’s a waste of time. I think people need to really take this time to focus on things that are positive, and their families and children, or friends or whatever.” Eh. Pass.
Because filming didn’t take place in a ton of group events, Emily isn’t sure if anyone confronts Kelly on her behavior this season. Maybe Shannon Beador had something to say after she and her daughters tested positive for the virus….
