I really didn’t think it would come to this, but I miss Real Housewives of New Jersey. Don’t get me wrong, I like the franchise just fine. But this past season was a big nothing burger for me. Watching Danielle Staub try to claw her way back to relevance just doesn’t do it for me.
That said, I’m excited to see what the ladies are cooking up for the upcoming season. They’ve been filming and there might even be a new cast member. One person I’m excited to see back is Jackie Goldschneider. I know what you’re going to say – she’s boring. But I beg to differ. I think Jackie brings a realness to the show. And anyone who isn’t afraid of OG and untouchable housewife Teresa Giudice is ok in my book.
Jackie might be used to the criticism about her personality on the show but now she has to put up with body shaming too. After a photo of Jackie out on the town with castmate Melissa Gorga was put out, Jackie faced a lot of hate for stretch marks on her stomach.
Jackie took to Instagram with the same picture and addressed the haters in her caption. She began, “This sweet picture from last night turned into a discussion of my stomach on social media, so let’s talk about stretch marks, shall we? My beautiful stomach held 4 healthy children, and those stretch marks remind me every day of how powerful my body is and how much mothers endure during pregnancy.”

She continued, “I won’t airbrush my body to perfection so you see a fake version of me or an unrealistic picture of a mother. I love myself and I know that beauty is found in our imperfections. No woman should be ashamed of their stretch marks or anything else about their bodies. Like Eve Ensler said, ‘Stop trying to fix your body. It was never broken.'”

Jackie finished it off with #loveyourself and a heart emoji. Ok, not that it matters but it is worth saying that Jackie looks amazing, four kids or not. More importantly, can we remember that Jackie has been very open and honest about a past eating disorder. How can people be so mean?
The fact that Jackie had to even address this is ridiculous. But I am really proud of her for rising above it all. She could have responded by fighting hate with hate. Instead she took the high road and gave a heartfelt message. Regardless of what you think of her, this shows that Jackie can hold her own with grace and poise. Housewives like that don’t come around every day.
