Real Housewives of New York has long been a hotbed for launching products from their stars. Bethenny Frankel is obviously the most notable with her Skinny Girl line. Ramona Singer also got in on the action with her Pinot Grigio line and most recently, Ageless Skincare.
Which brings us to Sonja Morgan. Never has a toaster oven been so talked about. Or delayed. Sonja’s attempt at kitchen appliances eventually fell flat. Maybe the market just wasn’t ready for a toaster so chic. So Sonja cut her losses and moved on to her “international lifestyle brand”. Which is basically a clothing line. Said clothing line was featured this season on an episode of RHONY, showcasing Sonja’s new deal with Century 21 clothing store.
But alas, that also wasn’t meant to be. Century 21, a New York staple for decades, announced that it is filing for bankruptcy. Thus leaving Sonja’s clothing line to ended its very short run being sold in their stores. Page Six recently asked Sonja to share her thoughts on the matter.
Sonja said, “I found a family there and a home for my collection. All these years I was looking for the right place.”

Sonja claimed only Century 21 made her feel safe. She even turned down other retailers and now feels like the “rug has been pulled from under” her. Sonja continued, “I was going to be Chief Lifestyle Officer taking people on shopping sprees. Helping people who have gone through a hard time before the pandemic.”
She believes that the shopping sprees would have helped “people transition through hard times in their life.” Sonja also thinks it would help people “going through a sex change, coming out or coming back from the military.” Despite her clothing being a suspect choice for said help, it sounds like Sonja’s heart was truly in the right place.

Sonja added, “I was going to be helping people at this point in my life — that’s what I was looking forward to. It was going to be soul food to make me feel better on a day-to-day level. It was not just about raising millions. I was just going to go on a day-to-day level with Century 21, and help people with a $500 shopping spree.”
Clearly down in the dumps about the whole thing, Sonja added, “I don’t plan on going to Century 21 for a last [time]. I can’t even bring myself to do that.”

While it’s always sad when a company goes under, maybe this will breathe new life into Sonja’s efforts to get her clothing line into more hands at another retailer. And maybe it will reignite her passion for toaster ovens. In the meantime, I will be anxiously waiting for both.
