Season 15 of Real Housewives of Orange County is featuring some major changes. The cast was filming during the Covid-19 crises, and it shows how the RHOC ladies grappled with the stress.
This is also the first season without “OG” cast members Vicki Gunvalson and Tamra Judge. They walked away when they weren’t offered full-time positions for Season 15. But don’t worry, Tamra and Vicki will never stop commenting on RHOC.
Vicki criticized the cast because the show was cut down from 22 episodes to 12 episodes. Of course, the coronavirus was the most likely cause of the reduced number of shows.
HollywoodLife shared the Season 15 trailer, and let’s just say it isn’t a blockbuster. This season covered the RHOC cast from February until August. Covid-19 led production to shut down, so the cast filmed part of the season on their iPhones.
Kelly Dodd, Gina Kirschenheiter, Shannon Beador, Braunwyn Windham-Burke, and Emily Simpson are joined this season by newbie Housewife Elizabeth Lyn Vargas.
The trailer begins with Shannon proclaiming, “I’m excited for 2020!” Her excitement doesn’t last long. In July, Shannon announced on Instagram that she and her three daughters were diagnosed with Covid-19. In the trailer, Shannon was shown having a breathing treatment. She also told Kelly that she doesn’t want to be “a statistic for corona-f–king-virus.”
Shannon later said, “They’ve shut the entire f–king country down!” Kelly filmed what appeared to be empty streets in New York City. Emily was shown weeping. Then the trailer rewinds and starts over.
So, what else does Season 15 have in store? Braunwyn supported her son’s decision to try out drag. Kelly tried on wedding dresses for her third walk down the aisle with Rick Leventhal, who is a Fox News reporter.
Elizabeth, who is the CEO of an online music company, is friends with Kelly. She is also going through a divorce. She introduced her boyfriend Jimmy to the cast. “Jimmy and I have a very intimate relationship—we just don’t have sex,” Elizabeth explained.
Braunwyn was dealing with her own drama, and told Shannon, “This was the story that she was going to blackmail me with.” That is sort of interesting, at least. Brauwyn also had a meltdown and shouted, “These women are horrible! They lie to each other all the time!” Is that breaking news, Braunwyn?
Later on, at an event, Shannon shouted at Braunwyn, “Don’t you dare accuse me of something I did!” Shannon hasn’t changed a bit.
Gina is still head over heels for her boyfriend, Travis Mullen. Gina’s ex-husband, Matt Kirschenheiter, made an appearance on RHOC for the first time. Gina seems to have an issue with Braunwyn. Gina told Emily, “Last year, they were like ‘Do you want to come sleep with us?’ This year they’re like, ‘Your home is too small.’”
At an event, Gina went after Braunwyn. “Wake up! You’re a sloppy Chihuahua!” she shouted. Gina was shown throwing a wine glass and storming off.
Also of note is the fact that the RHOC ladies broke the “fourth wall” by addressing production shutting down. When the show started filming again, a producer was heard in the trailer reminding the cast, “You’re supposed to be six feet apart.”
