During the most recent episode of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Denise Richards stormed away from the cast. Again. This time was different though because she slammed her co-stars as “mean girls.”
Whether you believe Denise about hooking up with Brandi Glanville or not (which I don’t), you cannot argue that these women are not ganging up on her. Why is it so vital that Denise admits to a sexual encounter with someone who is NOT a cast member (who purposely came on the show to blow up Denise’s life for personal gain)? Why is it so important to find the truth? Is there just not enough to talk about when it comes to the people who are actual cast members on this show? CLEARLY.
These women have no storylines. Teddi Mellencamp ranting about accountability, Lisa Rinna being a shitty friend, Erika Jayne and Dorit Kemsley promoting themselves, and Kyle Richards orchestrating storylines from the side are not enough to sustain this show. Instead, they’ve just turned every conversation into badgering Denise. It’s just too much.
Some of the cast discussed Denise’s “mean girls” dig during a recent episode of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills After Show. Denise, Garcelle Beauvais, and Lisa Rinna did not appear on the episode (or any of the after show episodes this season, for some reason).
Erika said, “I don’t think we’re mean girls. I think that we’re opinionated women and I think that we’re here to tell our side of the story, how we see it.” What is YOUR side of the story though, Erika? What do YOU have to do with Brandi and Denise? What do any of these women have to do with (non-cast member) Brandi? Oh, right: nothing.

Dorit, the one woman who has actually handled this situation well, listening to both sides and reacting logically said, “For me, and I had been defending Denise, and when Denise had said that, I just felt that, you know, that’s not [a] fair nor accurate portrayal. I don’t believe that anybody is a mean girl in our group or [has] set out with that intention. And I can say that aside from any of the other accusations, or what I believe or don’t believe, I think that was a really wrong way to approach it.”
Oh, girl. I don’t think it’s fair to say that everybody is a “mean girl,” but to say that there isn’t anybody in the group who deserves that label is not accurate either.

Sutton Stracke declared, “It’s a really bad misconception of all of these women.” She preached, “Can we each have a mean moment? Yes. I mean, we’re women. That’s what we do. We’re not that nice sometimes, but 99% of the time, we are there to chit chat, have fun, get to know each other better, come from a good place.” Those are some interesting generalizations that I’m just not gonna touch.
Sutton insisted, “This is not a gang up situation. I disagree with that wholeheartedly 100%. It’s not a group of mean girls.” This is 100% a gang up situation. They’ve all inserted themselves into these hookup allegations for no reason other than to avoid talking about their own lives.

Teddi mused, “Really, by that point, we were just in a lose-lose situation because if we say anything we’re ‘not letting it go,’ but if we don’t say anything, we’re just letting you come after our character and say we’re mean and all those types of things.” No, Teddi. In fact, you’re both “not letting it go” and acting like a “mean girl.”
Teddi added, “You’re the one that wanted to drop it, but now that you’re prepared, it took you four nights, or however many nights. You want us to let you perfectly give your speech when you’re not really addressing any of the issues that we’ve ever had.”

Sutton theorized, “I think that she’s setting herself up to be like she was the victim of the mean girls.” No, Sutton, I think Kyle and Teddi are setting up Denise with Rinna and Erika riding shotgun.

Erika concluded, “I think that those are words that people like to assign to us, so, yes, it’s convenient speech and it’s a great way to label. I don’t think in the long run, it serves her or anyone else, quite honestly, because next year, she can be labeled a ‘mean girl’ as well.” Erika wishes. The cast may be against Denise, but the viewers are very much on her side.
