Real Housewives of Potomac Season 5 is on fire! Last season RHOP viewers watched Monique Samuels’ friendship with Candiace Dillard fizzle out. The duo supposedly made amends at the RHOP Season 4 reunion, but there is already tension brewing between them this season. I think that when Candiace challenged a pregnant Monique to drag her last season, it might have been foreshadowing what happens between the co-stars. Be careful what you wish for, Candiace!
On October 16, 2019 Monique allegedly grabbed Candiace by the hair and yanked her down. The altercation happened during a dinner party that was being filmed for RHOP. That’s right— Bravo cameras were rolling during the incident. Viewers will need to wait until later in the season to see the footage that Bravo captured.
Then, in November of 2019, Candiace filed a lawsuit against Monique for second-degree assault. Monique filed charges against Candiace for (wait for it) second-degree assault. Monique alleged that during the fight, Candiace hit her in the face with a wine glass. In December of 2019, both of the charges were dismissed. Really- can’t we all just get along, ladies?
Now Candiace is taking credit for giving Real Housewives of Potomac a ratings boost and slamming Monique at the same time. Page Six reported that Candiace discussed the fight with Monique on the Reality Life with Kate Casey podcast. Candiace stated, “I am really of the mindset of, ‘Well, duh. Of course we’re an amazing show! Like, thank you for finally noticing!’ Yes, I absolutely feel that way.” Now if only the show could be amazing without the violence.

“I honestly believe that it was the loss of control by Monique that really gave the show more headlines,” Candiace explained. “People were intrigued by someone who appeared to be so- contained, put together, poised -how could it get to the point where Candiace is pressing charges?”
Candiace has not taped the show with Monique since the incident. “No, I am not taping another season with her. I will not be doing that,” the former Miss United States said.

“Everyone knows that. That has been made clear,” Candiace said. “I will never film another season of any show with someone who can do what she did, and then conduct themselves in the aftermath of what she did the way that she did.” Does that mean that one, or both, of the Potomac Housewives is leaving after this season?
Monique also has no plans to patch up her relationship with Candiace. “Look, at any point that somebody wants to put me in jail and makes an attempt to try to put me in jail, I am done. There is no future,” Monique said. Well, at least these ladies are on the same page about something.

Let’s hope that RHOP attracts new viewers who stick around to get to know the ladies, and not just for this crazy fight between Monique and Candiace.
