We’ve come to know that all yachting chefs are difficult to work with. Chief Stews Kate Chastain and Hannah Ferrier can attest to this and often say it in exasperated tones when complaining about their coworker in the galley.
Jenna MacGillivray ended up falling for chef Adam Glick on Below Deck Sailing Yacht. It was sort of cute to watch them flirt in the beginning. Then again, we didn’t have to walk in on it all the time and feel the discomfort that Madison Stalker did. Arguments started even before they hooked up, but after the fact, Adam seemed to drift into fight or flight mode. His moods permeated throughout the boat and caused tension for the rest of the crew as well.
When Adam appeared on Watch What Happens Live, host Andy Cohen asked about his attitude and behavior on the boat.
Adam began by acknowledging his anger issues and explained why he lashes out at times. He said, “it’s pretty clear that I have an attitude while I’m working on this incredibly stressful charter yacht. Then with having a girlfriend that I made very clear I didn’t want to get into this deep relationship early on during a working season. This is so important with work.”
Adam was cautious about deepening a relationship with Jenna. He definitely had some awareness about how emotional stress could impact him.

“So I didn’t handle my situation as well as I could have,” Adam said, “I think having an attitude adjustment would have been a huge huge help for me. But that time and circumstances that level of anxiety, stress, and general workload coupled with being in a relationship that’s…kind of functional. It was very very difficult for me. And it shows. There was no question it shows.”
We may not see Adam again on any Below Deck show. He has expressed a desire to bond with the earth have his own piece of land.

“I think that the learned lesson for me in the long run here, is that after twelve years living and working on the open ocean, I’m over it,” Adam revealed, “I’m ready to have a ranch. I’m ready to live my life. I want land and grow a beautiful garden. And do things I want to do to feed people organically over a fire. And none of those things can I do on a boat.”
