We are well into the latest 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days season and there is little hope of any of these couples working out. Yolanda Leak is being catfished, while Lisa Hamme and Ed Brown are clearly being used for a green card. Of course, fans of the show don’t necessarily expect happy endings. It’s more about the watching these unfortunate relationship implode.
Now comes the potential downside of being cast in a reality show and expanding your social media presence. We’ve seen many a cast member buckling under the pressure of negativity from fans. And this week, we have our first casualties of the group.
Stephanie Matto and Ash Naek both decided to take a break from social media because of fan reaction to the latest episode. It wasn’t a flattering episode for either of them. Ash had a Freudian slip moment when he declared himself “single” to Avery Warner. She was under the impression that they were a couple, and was visibly shocked by Ash’s words.
Fans quickly came to Avery’s defense. In response, Ash issued the following statement. It was reposted by Reality TV blogger John Yates and reads, “everyone thank you for the support and the great messages received. The events of the past 8 weeks hit me today, I was not in any way prepared for the intensity of what the show both good and bad brought to me. I am of the mindset not to give up but that took a turn today and I am taking a few weeks off from social media for my mental health. Love you all.”
Ironically, most of the followers coming to Ash’s defense are very photogenic women.

The scenes with Stephanie and Erika Owens are just painful to watch at this point. They are clearly mismatched. Dealing with Stephanie’s insecurity is a mammoth task that Erika just doesn’t want to deal with. They’ve gone so far downhill from the bubbly pair that couldn’t keep their hands off each other at the airport.
Stephanie, a social media influencer, posted a message to fans prior to the episode airing. She said, “before tonight’s episode, I want to STRONGLY encourage people to abstain from leaving any hate on Erika or Adam’s social media. Adam has a close relationship with Erika which obviously made me feel some way and that is my problem and not his.” She concluded, “Leaving someone have on social media, name calling, etc. will not make me, you, or Erika feel better or change anything. I intend on watching, learning, and trying to better myself.”

Stephanie deactivated her account. For someone who makes money off social media, that’s a big deal. She must have been expecting some crazy backlash too.
Will any other cast members follow suit?
