It’s a sad day for the Bravo family. Real Housewives of New Jersey patriarch and fan favorite, Nonno (real name Giacinto Gorga) has passed away. His death is an extra tough pill for the family to swallow since it comes only three years after wife Antonia passed away from pneumonia.
As the father to star Teresa Giudice and Joe Gorga, Nonno has been around since the show’s beginning. With good reason – for a reality show that focuses heavily on close-knit Italian families, Nonno was right where he belonged. It was hard not to love him as he stepped up to help his granddaughters when Teresa went to jail, followed by her husband Joe Giudice. By far my favorite Nonno memory is from last season when he boiled a full octopus at 6:15 in the morning.
After his passing, his family took to social media to grieve and express their sadness, including son-in-law, Joe Giudice. In a post on his Instagram account, Joe talked about how much he will miss his father-in-law. His caption reads, “Thank you for setting an example for us and my girls-you’re an exemplary example. We benefited from it every day. Thank you for being a guiding light—your experiences and knowledge helped us navigate day-to-day challenges. Thank you for cooking at family holiday dinners—I cherish the times we all sat around the table together playing cards and listening to your remembrances of thanks. Thank you for your wit—your daughter got the best of that.”
Clearly, Joe is feeling the depth of his loss as he continues, “Now, Your [heart] and my dad are smiling in this tough time because they get to enjoy your good food and funny jokes. Love you Cin cin [wine glass] #rip #cincin.” Ok, I’m going to cry now. I don’t think anyone has ever seen an outpouring from Joe such as this. Obviously, he loves Nonno very much.

Joe also posted a picture of the two of them together, arms around each other and smiling. He included text over the picture saying, “My father in law was a great man, he made sure that everyone in his family was provided for, because he loved them so much.”
From what we have seen, sounds like this message really embodies the man we have all grown to love. I for one am really going to miss seeing him on the show.
