During these tough times, there is one bit of good news. The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 5 trailer dropped and it looks amazing! Everyone from last season is back and they are joined by Wendy Osefo, which isn’t surprising since pictures from the cast photoshoot leaked a few months ago and Wendy was in them.
It looks like everyone is bringing it this year. Karen Huger is right when she quips, “Five years, boo boo, and we going strong.”
Of course, a big focus of the trailer, originally shared by People, is the physical altercation between Candiace Dillard and Monique Samuels. Even the producers have to hold Monique back after the big fight. Karen and Gizelle Bryant actually seem to be on the same page for once, in response to this incident.
Karen says, “I never thought as black women we would be right here, but we are. It’s not something you can brush under the rug, but you’ve got to address this!” Gizelle tells Monique, “We’ve been able to hold ourselves above the stereotype, and in 5 minutes, she took it away. I by no means want to be near you.” In all fairness, Gizelle never wanted to be anywhere near Monique.
But, Gizelle is getting close to her ex-husband Jamal Bryant, the guy who cheated on her and is rumored to be Phaedra Parks’ Mr. Chocolate from back in the day. However, her kids are not on board with their parents dating again.
Robyn Dixon is still dating her ex-husband Juan Dixon and milking this storyline for all its worth. At one point in the trailer, Juan says, “Don’t act like our marriage was awesome.” Damn. How do they go from conversations like that to getting engaged? That will be interesting to watch.
Speaking of interesting to watch, there are some major issues between Karen and her husband Ray Huger, who she infamously called “the black Bill Gates,” even after their very public financial issues. In the trailer, Karen asks if Ray is still in love with her and he says “over time, things change.” My jaw dropped.
Then, my jaw hit the floor when Karen said she’s “done” and “should have left in a f*cking heartbeat.” Wow. Just wow. After all they’ve been through, I can’t imagine why there’s such a wedge between them now.
And then, we have Ashley Darby and her man Michael Darby. Their marital issues have been the backbone of the series. From the initial gold-digging accusations about Ashley to the gay rumors about Michael, this marriage has given us a lot of major storylines. During Season 5, Michael has a wild night with strippers and tells Ashley “We ended up going back to a hotel.” I’m just wondering if these are male or female strippers. Don’t @ me. Many viewers were thinking this as well.
Candiace and her husband Chris Bassett’s personal story involves having a baby. As of now, we haven’t heard any pregnancy news from the couple. But, Candiace does say that she peed on a stick during the trailer.
Monique and her husband Chris Samuels struggle to share family responsibilities. In the trailer, Monique tells Chris, “It would be nice if some of the pressure’s taken off of me.”
