It was refreshing to see Dolores Catania’s boyfriend, David Principe, in the Season 10 premiere of Real Housewives of New Jersey. I was beginning to think he didn’t exist. The duo doesn’t see each other very much.
Luckily, Dolores isn’t lacking in the companionship department since she is still living with her ex-husband, and bestie, Frank Catania. And Frank is building a house for David, and Dolores is very involved in the process. Of course, the RHONJ star is hoping that she gets an engagement ring from David so she can move in.
Unfortunately, Frank has suffered a bad fall, and will require surgery. In an interview with Page Six at a social function on Tuesday, Dolores said that the procedure will “test his strength.” Dolores posted on her Instagram Stories that her ex was being treated for tears in his quadriceps and detached kneecaps. That sounds so painful! Frank is being treated at St. Joseph’s hospital in Paterson, NJ, where Dolores volunteers.
Dolores told Page Six that Frank would undergo “emergency surgery” on February 12 because he injured himself on February 10. In a video clip of Frank at the hospital, he joked around about how he got hurt. “I came home late one day, and I didn’t do the dishes, and the next thing you know, Dolores throws me down the stairs,” Frank said.

Dolores replied, “Tell the truth, Frank.” Frank, who was seated in a wheelchair admitted, “I fell.” He added, “So I am going to be laid up for a while.” It sounds like a rough recovery. “I need everyone to help me on this one. Please,” Frank added.
Dolores told Page Six how difficult this situation is for Frank. “This will be the first time Frank is physically defeated. He’s going to lose his muscles for the first time in his life,” Dolores explained. “Those huge, big legs. Those 20-inch arms. How is Frank mentally going to handle this? What defined him was his body and working out.”

While Dolores was at the event, David was hanging with Frank at the hospital. “David will stay in the hospital with him overnight until he goes in for surgery. I’m probably going to have to take care of him until he can walk again,” Dolores explained.
RHONJ is scheduled to start filming in March, so viewers will probably get to see part of Frank’s recovery. Or he might decide to skip the cameras while recuperating.

Dolores concluded, “It’s a long road. It’s going to test his strength, and maybe part of my self-growth is going to help him. We’ll make it positive.” I hope that Frank has a speedy recovery.
