If I’m being perfectly honest with myself and everyone reading this, two people I don’t miss from the 90 Day Fiance series are Ashley Martson and her estranged husband Jay Smith. I would like to consider myself a 90 Day fanatic but those two always rubbed me the wrong way.
I can’t pinpoint the exact moment when I got turned off from their manufactured love story because so much happened that it was hard to keep up on the show, let alone in real-time. On screen, there was the fighting, the cheating, and the angry friends zipping off on mopeds after Ashley wouldn’t heed their warning (still my favorite part of their story). Off screen, they took on-again-off-again to the next level, plus there were some rumors Jay got a woman pregnant. And let’s not forget the oddly staged photoshoot of them seemingly in love, walking a horse around while they dressed up in Burger King crowns. Yep, I hate this couple, maybe more than any of the other 90 Day couples to grace our screens.
With everything I just listed, it kind of seems like Ashley and Jay lived for the drama they were creating, dare I say relished the whole thing. But even drama queens (and burger kings) have their limits.
In an interview with In Touch Weekly, Jay tells them that he regrets going on the show and says that his “life would be different” now if he never went on in the first place. Jay continues of his role in appearing on the show, “I had no part of it,” and “I feel like the show portrayed my relationship as a very toxic relationship, like I’m the bad person but [no] it wasn’t [accurate].”

Jay is dishing on everything, including those cheating claims, “The Tinder incident that happened, that was staged because without drama you don’t have a show,” he says. “The Tinder scandal, it was just an act so it was easy to move [past it] because you know, we just act on the TV and after … that was it.” He also claims that the woman-in-the-bathroom cheating scandal was set up and the guys in the barbershop were paid to be a part of it.
Jay maintains that he’s not a total trash husband by saying, “Not everything you want to just put out there like, knowing that it can ruin someone’s future,” referencing Ashley’s children. “So, I made the decision to take the blame because I don’t got kids. She got kids. I can take the blame I’m just a young kid I got my life ahead of me. So I keep that stuff to myself.” Sure, Jay.

So why is he saying all this now after all the episodes and the tell-alls and no one giving them attention anymore? According to Jay, it’s simply a matter of him being off probation now. Ashley had a response of her own for Jay: “I hope he moves on with his life to more productive things, instead of finding new ways to justify his past transgressions.”
Sounds like these two might be off for good.
