When I think about the feud between Katie Maloney, Stassi Schroeder, and Kristen Doute, I just get annoyed. It is pretty clear to me that these three have grown apart and it wouldn’t be that big of a deal if they didn’t share all the same friends… and star on the same reality TV show.
Why is it getting dragged out into such a big thing? I get it, the Witches of WeHo have become such a staple on Vanderpump Rules, but we are really just beating this storyline to death and we are still in the early stages of Season 8. Katie and Stassi are annoyed at Kristen for looking for post-breakup sympathy while she was still hooking up with and (for a limited time, at least) living with Brian Carter. Kristen is upset because she was there for Stassi and Katie during their relationship lows and she feels like they left her high and dry now that she’s single. That’s it. As sad as it is, I don’t think it takes much more analysis than that. However, Kristen, Katie, and Stassi have addressed it in many interviews, episodes, and social media comments in such a short period of time.
Recently, Katie tweeted, “Also… I have been silent regarding a pretty big topic and found a comment that said it better than I could honestly. It’s been a hard couple of years. I have so much love for Kristen and have supported her to the point it became truly difficult. It became poison.” Poison? Wow. That’s quite the statement there.
Along with that tweet, Katie posted a screenshot of an Instagram comment from one of her followers. The Instagram user wrote, “I think [Kristen] wants to be able to vent every day to them. They want her to be happy but she refuses to make any changes that lead her to happiness. At some point (2 years later) your friend venting about the same issue every day [becomes] a mental drain on you and can even start [affecting] your mental health. I think Katie and Stassi have done as much as they can for [Kristen] but K is unwilling to understand how her toxicity is [affecting] her friends. She [is] so wrapped up in her own problems that she can’t see how she’s [affecting] other around her.”

The same person also made some interesting assessments about Kristen’s previous romantic relationships, writing, “She’s kind of like an addict with the Carter situation. She needs to hit rock bottom before she will get out. The same way she did with Tom [Sandoval]. Which is more proof that she hasn’t grown since Tom.”
I’m not sure if Katie fully endorses that whole comment or just the general sentiment that it was overwhelming to deal with the same problem constantly with (seemingly) zero effort to change it.

Honestly, I don’t even know who I’m siding with on this one. I feel bad that Katie and Stassi’s advice is ignored. I feel bad that Kristen is excluded from hanging with two people she considered to be “best friends,” especially while Stassi is planning her wedding with Beau Clark. After all, Kristen is the one who introduced Stassi and Beau. Kristen is not a bridesmaid and the jury is still out on whether or not Kristen will even be invited. It’s a sad situation all around, even for the Vanderpump Rules viewers, who are probably kind of bored by this storyline already.
