Just in case you hadn’t heard, Kelly Dodd is engaged! The outspoken Real Housewives of Orange County star announced her engagement to New York based reporter Rick Leventhal last week after a whirlwind courtship. It seems like just yesterday that Kelly was dating plastic surgeon Brian Reagan, who has been featured numerous times on season 14 of RHOC. Maybe it wasn’t yesterday, but it was just a few months ago that they broke up!
We all know that Kelly does things her own way and in her own style. So, her lightning speed engagement should not be a surprise. She has already picked a wedding date of 10-10-20. Of course, Kelly being Kelly, she has not exactly worked out all the logistics of how she and Rick will incorporate their lives together.
In an interview with Page Six, Kelly revealed that one little detail–OK, one GIANT detail of her new relationship–has not yet come together. Surprisingly, Kelly admits that her daughter Jolie and Rick have not actually met in person. She admitted, “She hasn’t met Rick yet but she sees him on FaceTime.”
Such a small detail. Why in the world would you want your daughter to meet the man you are going to marry? Although 13-year old Jolie seems wise beyond her years–in fact, wiser than some of her mother’s co-stars, how could someone get engaged without their child meeting that person–in person–first? Many people don’t even introduce their children to someone they are dating in the time frame it took Kelly to become engaged.

Kelly went on to add, “So [Jolie has] met him, but she hasn’t properly met him.” This seems problematic on so many levels, but maybe I am just judgmental. Hopefully, Jolie will meet Rick in person before the wedding! Mama Kelly has a year to make it happen.
Maybe Kelly is just too caught up in her engagement to think through all of those pesky logistics. She told Page Six that the engagement was a big shock. “Yes, I was actually. Very shocked! I mean, I knew it was going to happen because I picked out the ring but I didn’t know when.” Kelly also said, “I thought it was Christmas.”
She insisted, “I didn’t know he was going to buy it. I just said, ‘I like that ring!’”

Kelly might not have a solid plan for Jolie and Rick to meet, but she has started to plan the wedding. She shared, “I wanna do Napa but he has a house in Miami or Delray or whatever … he’s doing his 60th there at the Wall in the W.” Miami, Delray, Boca, Fort Lauderdale, Key West…a house in one of those places. You might want to nail down the exact Florida address before you hire a band and a caterer, Kelly!
Lest you think Kelly completely has her head in the clouds of love, she is focused on Jolie’s education, revealing she is helping her daughter apply to private Orange County high schools. Which likely ties her to the OC for the foreseeable future.

“I wish I could [move to New York],” Kelly stated. “I feel like I’m always with Ramona [Singer] and Dorinda [Medley] and Sonja [Morgan] so I mean it would be a great transition. It would be kind of cool to have a job transfer. I fit right in.” Kelly recently teased she might like to become one of the Real Housewives of New York.
For now, it sounds like Kelly is staying put in Orange County. She and former hubby Michael Dodd have joint custody, so her options for moving are probably limited. Kelly and Rick will eventually have to determine if one of them will move or they will be bi-coastal. Just one more detail for Kelly to work on before her wedding. Taking place in Napa, Miami, Delray, the Everglades or wherever. The only thing for certain at this point is that Vicki Gunvalson won’t be throwing Kelly a bridal shower!
