Season 11 of Real Housewives of Atlanta featured NeNe Leakes behaving badly. At a party at NeNe’s house, Kandi Burruss and a pregnant Porsha Williams entered NeNe’s closet. An enraged NeNe yanked a cameraman out of her closet, ripping his shirt. No one goes in NeNe’s closet without her permission. Maybe she should have an engraved plaque with a warning on her closet door. Just saying.
When NeNe’s former bestie Cynthia Bailey invited RHOA alum Kenya Moore to her launch party, NeNe once again got hot. When Kandi arrived with Kenya, NeNe was furious. She called Kenya a “monster.” NeNe also cut off Cynthia, because NeNe wasn’t given the chance to sign off on the guest list. Cynthia said she didn’t know that Kenya was coming.
At the RHOA reunion, Kandi insisted that Cynthia did not know that Kenya was coming to the event. NeNe said that Kandi is “not important.” Ouch!
Kandi explained how felt about NeNe’s comments in a video clip on People. “I mean, you know, she was giving us, ‘Oh I’m the HBIC…I’m this…I’m that.’ Ehhhh,” Kandi said with a dismissive gesture. Kandi also commented on NeNe calling her “not important” at the reunion.
“You know, what’s so funny, like everybody was like ‘Why didn’t you go off? Why didn’t you get upset?’ Umm…Well first of all, I…she is the last person I look at to validate me. But at the same time, when she first said it, honestly the way I took it was– she and I aren’t really friends,” Kandi explained. “So if I bring somebody to the party that she doesn’t like, like that’s not important.”

So how are relations between NeNe and Kandi now? In an interview with HollywoodLife, Kandi said, “I would say that personally, Nene and I [are] in a much better place this year. She and I are okay now, but it definitely took her a minute to get on the same page with some of the other girls,” Kandi explained.
After all the drama that NeNe created last season, she had some difficulty interacting with her fellow peach-holders. Kandi said, “I don’t want to give anything away, but people weren’t ready to just bow down and say, ‘Oh, you’re back. Oh, hey.’ No, people were still like, ‘yeah, whatever girl.’”

In May, when NeNe took to Instagram to wish Kandi a happy birthday, it seemed their relationship was on the mend. “Thank you!!! See you tonight!” Kandi replied, referring to her birthday party. An insider told HollywoodLife that NeNe extended an invitation to Kandi to attend NeNe’s store opening later that month.
Kandi feels like NeNe is really trying to fix her friendships with the other Atlanta Housewives. In the third episode of RHOA, NeNe made her first appearance this season. Now that her husband, Gregg Leakes, is cancer-free, NeNe is working with some type of spiritual advisor to help her tap into her positivity. Let’s hope that NeNe is doing her homework.
