Phaedra Parks was part of Real Housewives of Atlanta for eight seasons. Phaedra was married to ex-convict Apollo Nida, and we watched as they welcomed their two sons. RHOA viewers also saw their marital struggles as their union fell apart.
In 2014, Apollo was sentenced to eight years in prison for fraud and identity theft. Apollo was released in June of 2019, but he violated his halfway house rules a few days later. So, he went back to jail. In a decision that surprised no one, Phaedra filed for divorce.
This lawyer and funeral director had been cautiously wading into the dating pool. Phaedra dated Dish Nation radio host Tone Kapone in January of 2019. It seems that the romance ended shortly thereafter.
According to Page Six, Phaedra has a new man in her life, but he is the ex of a former Real Housewives of Atlanta star. Phaedra is dating Medina Islam, who is an actor who got his start rapping. He appeared on Tyler Perry’s The Haves and the Have Nots. Medina also dated Phaedra’s RHOA co-star Claudia Jordan. Claudia co-starred with Phaedra on Seasons 7 and 8. Does that go against girl-code? Phaedra made their relationship Instagram official by posting a cute photo of the couple and wishing her boyfriend a Happy Birthday. Medina, who is several years younger than Phaedra, responded by posting “Thank u My Beautiful Queen.” Aww!

In an interview with People, Phaedra talked about how the two became acquainted. The two met on a dating app, but Phaedra stated that she “knew him from around town in Atlanta.”
The attorney explained, “You know, he used to be on a show here so we have a lot of mutual friends. One of my best friends is one of his best friends as well.” Phaedra is excited about their new romance. “We’re right at six months now. It’s the perfect time, we’re still in the bubble. … It’s awesome!”
After everything that Phaedra went through with Apollo, it is nice that this thong-enthusiast has found someone who is more her type. Or maybe less her type.

“He’s a really good guy. He’s very calming and soothing and mild-mannered,” Phaedra stated. “I always dealt with the bad boys, and he’s very opposite from any guy I’ve ever dated. So that’s refreshing.” Amen to that, Phaedra!
If there is one difficulty with their relationship, it is the fact that it is long-distance. Phaedra resides in Atlanta, and Medina lives in Los Angeles. Phaedra said, “It’s hard doing the long distance, especially bi-costal because L.A. is a super long flight, outside of just the time difference. But we’ve been making it work! He’s an actor so he’s New York quite a bit, and then he comes to Atlanta, and I get to L.A. to see him as well,” the RHOA alum added.

But Phaedra is being cautious in one area of their relationship. “He hasn’t met my kids yet. We’re just taking it slow with that,” Phaedra said. Phaedra and Apollo share sons Ayden Nida, who is 9 and Dylan Nida, who is 6.
