Erika Jayne is one of the most enigmatic stars of the Real Housewives franchise. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills glam diva is amongst the most private–OK–maybe the most private of the Housewives. Getting real emotion, feelings or depth out of the sometimes volatile Erika is about as easy as getting a straight answer from your cable company.
One thing Erika is very open about, however, is her love of performing. Before becoming a Housewife, Ms. Jayne racked up eight number 1 hits on the US Dance Club Charts. Which is quite a feat, no matter how you look at it. Now, Erika is gearing up for a career accomplishment that might even eclipse her dance club success.
In a statement to People, Erika announced that she is headed to Broadway. She shared, “I’m beyond excited to join the cast of the legendary musical Chicago. Having been a fan of Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon’s work it is an honor and a dream to play Roxie Hart.”
Chicago has been performed in various productions since 1975. The current show has been on Broadway since 1996 and is the second longest running musical in Broadway history.

Is Erika up for the challenge? The show has long been known for celebrity casting, with everyone from Ashlee Simpson to Brooke Shields playing Roxie Hart, so why not Erika in the role? Erika and Roxie are both larger than life characters who had dreams of stardom, so maybe the casting is a good fit. Of course, as Erika hasn’t shot anyone like Roxie, she will have to dig deep for dramatic inspiration!
According to People, Erika will begin performances on January 6, 2020. Her limited 12-week engagement runs through March 29.

Erika is not the first Housewife to be associated with the musical. Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member Kandi Burrus starred as Mama Morton in 2018. Her co-star NeNe Leakes also took on the Mama Morton role in 2015.
More surprisingly, Erika’s co-star Lisa Rinna had a go at the role of Roxie Hart back in 2007, as she shared in an Instagram post earlier this year. And Harry Hamlin played opposite Lisa as Billy Flynn! How did I miss that? Maybe Lisa can give Erika some acting lessons before she heads to Broadway. The chance to be coached by an Emmy Award winning soap actress would be an invaluable opportunity for Erika…oh wait, that is former RHOBH star Eileen Davidson. Sorry for the mix-up!

Chicago also had another Housewife connection recently. Real Housewives of New York star Luann de Lesseps was rumored to have been offered the role of Mama Morton earlier this year. Luann had teased during the RHONY reunion that she would be starring in the show. A short time later, however, Luann’s representatives came out with a statement claiming that scheduling conflicts, cabaret superstardom and tending to her vast jewelry empire prevented her from accepting the role. Sounds plausible to me!
It is possible that Erika’s preparations for the role of Roxie might be a part of the RHOBH storyline for season 10. As Erika has not really had much of a storyline since being on the show, this could be a great opportunity to see more of the real Erika. She’s in there somewhere!
