Braunwyn Windham-Burke Talks About Her Challenging Relationship With Her Mother

New Housewife Braunwyn Windham-Burke is beginning to find out what the Real Housewives Of Orange County is all about. Braunwyn was caught in a lie this week about texting former OC cast members Gretchen Rossi and Lizzie Rovsek. For the alleged crime, she was put through a brutal Hollywood tour bus inquisition by unlicensed prosecuting attorneys Shannon Beador and Tamra Judge. Unfortunately, Shane Lil’ Bitch Simpson was unavailable to represent Braunwyn as he was busy trying to pass the California Bar exam.

Apparently, there is more to Braunwyn than being pretty, pleasant and procreative. Aside from finding out she sometimes lies to avoid confrontation, we are also learning more about Braunwyn’s complicated relationship with her mother, Dr. Deb. A woman who looks like Cyndi Lauper circa 1984 and dresses like JoJo Siwa circa 2019.

In an interview with Bravo’s The Daily Dish, Braunwyn discussed her difficult relationship with her mother. She admitted, “My relationship with my mom is more complicated than she realizes. I do know though that parents and children often have very different recollections of things and that I’m only seeing things from my point of view.”

On this week’s episode of RHOC, Braunwyn and Dr. Deb had dinner together and Braunwyn shared some of her thoughts on how she was raised with her mother. Braunwyn’s upbringing included being bottle-fed milk at the bar of the Whiskey a Go Go while her mother sang in a band and being shuffled around between relatives while her mother was in medical school.

Braunwyn sadly revealed on RHOC this week, “Growing up, all I ever wanted was a mom that always put me first. And I never had that.” Braunwyn also told a heartbreaking story of being a latchkey kid at the way-too-young age of four. You know–the age when most parents think it is OK to leave kids on their own.

For her part, Dr. Deb defended Braunwyn’s upbringing, declaring in a talking head, “Braunwyn has animosity towards me for some perceived unconventional childhood. I mean, she might think she suffered, in the scheme of suffering, when you look at refugee camps, I think Braunwyn was pretty well off. I think so.” So sweet, Dr. Deb, just like a Hallmark card–I think I am tearing up!

It is  clear that the mother and daughter duo care about each other, but they also have some issues to work on. Braunwyn told The Daily Dish, “I love my mom so much and really respect the fact that, as a single mom, she supported us and worked hard to become a doctor.”

It may have been a difficult week for Braunwyn on the show, but she shared, “The largest lesson I learned from this week is how much of my life I’ve spent trying to keep people happy. I hate uncomfortable situations and try and deflect instead of dealing with things. I’m still a work in progress, and the show has really helped me work through some uncomfortable truths.”

Fortunately for Braunwyn, Shannon, Tamra and Kelly Dodd are seasoned purveyors of uncomfortableness. I guess Braunwyn got lucky with the show–she is being paid to work out her personal problems on national television. A win-win for everyone!
