The Below Deck Mediterranean season thus-far has given us unprecedented reality TV moments. Mila Kolomeitseva served Taco Bell-style food on a luxury Jack Stirrup spit into Aesha Scott’s belly button. He’ll soon be sucking her toes too, as evidenced by the footage in the mid-season trailer.
Whatever your thoughts about the quirky courtship of Jack and Aesha, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The trailer is a great teaser of hookups, tears, and drunken antics. But the most exciting moment comes at the very end when a very familiar voice is says, “hello lovelies.”
People shared an analysis of the footage in a recent article. There are two big questions that come up. First is, who is Captain Sandy Yawn talking to when she says, “your position is redundant. I have to let you go.” And, is Chef Ben Robinson returning to the galley? Yes. He. Is.
Just like any good mystery, there is a setup and a list of suspects. Anastasia Surmava will start to struggle in the galley. Colin Macy-O’Toole injures his hand, leaving him potentially unable to work. Travis Michalzik walks a fine line with alcohol abuse, which makes him a liability. At another point, June Foster was stands idly in the galley with a smoking pan.

Captain Lee Rosbach fired Leon Walker, aka Chef Beefcheeks after a grease fire started in his galley on Below Deck several seasons ago. If Sandy follows suit, Anastasia may be on the line for endangering the boat. Though June also stood by and seemingly did nothing in the face of an emergency.
As for Ben, he is definitely walking his familiar strut down the dock. And Ben returning could only indicate that Anastasia will not be in the galley anymore. Will she return to a third stew position? Hannah Ferrier was certainly biting at the bit to fire someone and had to be put in her place by Sandy.

If none of that peaks your interest, there’s a fair amount of partying, drunken antics, and underwhelmed charter guests in store. Stay tuned. It’s going to be a wild ride.
