Gretchen Rossi has given birth to her first child. Following a years-long struggle with infertility, the former Real Housewives of Orange County star welcomed daughter Skylar Gray on Wednesday, July 10.
The baby’s father is Gretchen‘s fiancé and longtime love and OG Real Housewives of Orange County cast member Slade Smiley.
“Skylar is born and mama and baby are doing well,” the RHOC alum’s rep confirmed in an exclusive statement to Us Weekly.
In a May interview with Access Hollywood, Gretchen explained the origins of her new daughter’s name. Gretchen picked out the name Skylar picked out and saved it since she was a small girl. The newborn’s middle name Gray is a tribute to her half-brother Grayson. Viewers heard about his battle with brain cancer viewers saw during the couple’s five-season run on RHOC. (Along with Grayson, Slade also has son Gavin from a previous relationship.)
Gretchen first revealed she was pregnant during a December 2018 appearance on The Doctors. During the show, she and Slade opened up about their journey to have a baby. To do so, the infamous “Housewife Hunter” had to undergo a reverse vasectomy . As a result, Gretchen went through multiple rounds of IVF in order to conceive.

Most recently, the former OC Housewife celebrated Skylar’s impending arrival with an over-the-top baby shower in Laguna Beach, Calif. Countless Bravolebrities turned out for the bash, including Gretchen‘s fellow RHOC alums Lizzie Rovsek and Peggy Tanous, Scheana Shay from Vanderpump Rules, D’Andra Simmons from The Real Housewives of Dallas and Phaedra Parks from The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
While this is their first child together, Gretchen and Slade have now been together for over 10 years. The beginning of the couple’s relationship was documented in Season 5 of RHOC. This was after the death of Gretchen’s much-older fiancé Jeff Beitzel. However, Gretchen’s overblown proposal to Slade during Season 8 was seen by both fans and the other ‘Wives as a stunt for Bravo’s cameras. It was a major factor in getting her booted from the show.

Since leaving the show, Gretchen and Slade have remained engaged for more than six years, with Gretchen popping up on Season 12 of RHOC in a dramatic cameo appearance. Now that baby Skylar has arrived, only time will tell if the OC’s most infamous couple will finally get hitched.
