The cast photo and trailer for Season 14 of Real Housewives of Orange County are truly jarring! The OG of the OC, Vicki Gunvalson has been demoted. We knew it took a while for Vicki to sign the contract, but I feel like we were led to believe she was coming back in a full-time capacity.
The OG has confirmed the demotion herself, saying, “I am back again this season right in the middle of the action in a different role.” That different role means that we will see less of the OG. This means more camera time for Tamra Judge’s boobs , Shannon Beador and Kelly Dodd’s dating lives, Gina Kirschenheiter’s DUI, Emily Simpson’s twerp husband, and the newbie, Braunwyn Windham-Burke. Braunwyn has seven kids! It looks like RHOC has enough of a cast and a lot of new drama to get into. Some people are, like the OG of the Housewives, apparently old news.
To add insult to Vicki’s undoubtedly injured ego, Vicki’s demotion reportedly comes with a major pay cut. According to Radar Online, Vicki is apparently facing a major salary reduction. Radar Online claims that Vicki was making over a million dollars a season for RHOC.
According to the insider they quote, “with [Vicki’s] $60,000 per episode before this, her ‘RHOC’ salary was approximately $1.26 million.” Wow, that’s way more than I thought she was making! If true, that kind of salary puts Vicki in a similar tier as the women of Real Housewives of Atlanta. I really did not think any woman in Orange County was pulling in that kind of cash, given its status in the Housewives cannon. But what do I know?

Radar Online’s source also alleged that if Vicki managed to be featured in each of the 21 episodes of Season 14, she would still only earn $420,000. This is a lot different from the supposed $1.26 million she was raking in before.
“A new Housewife begs for $5,000 an episode. So, for Vicki to be getting that much she is very lucky,” Radar Online’s source said.
Ouch! This “source” is being a bit harsh. She’s not “lucky” to have to beg for money like a “new housewife.”
She’s the OG of the OC for heaven’s sake! Also, let’s keep in mind, this source is not confirmed.

Either way, Vicki’s still making great money for causing drama on TV. I’m so here for Season 14! I also think it’s safe to say we’ll see Vicki working for that Bravo money. Come Season 15, The OG will be back full force.
