Okay guys, let’s join hands and take a nice cleansing breath. Most of the time reality television news can be snarky and fun. Then occasional stories appear that aren’t so humorous. Meghan Edmonds knows this. The former Real Housewives of Orange County star has suffered some devastating blows. She is currently dealing with Jim Edmonds’ confession of having an “inappropriate relationship” with another woman. Admittedly heartbroken, Meghan has been pushing through.
More often than not, it’s embarrassing or degrading for a celebrity who has messed up. What we sometimes forget is, that even though story lines can be producer-driven, we are dealing with actual human beings. Meghan has been suffering over her husband’s recent and public (alleged) infidelity. She is also the mom of three. She had daughter, Aspen, in 2016 and welcomed twin boys Hart and Hayes in 2018. Now Megan is facing a new battle. She has joined a club with a brutal initiation. Whether you like Megs or not, it time to let go of past frustrations and rally.
Viewers of RHOC really had a love/hate relationship with Meghan. The fact is, she made #cancergate a thing and ultimately altered storyline history. During her time on the show, fans watched Megs navigate a blended family with Jimmy Dad Jeans, while yearning for children of her own. Meghan finally got her happy family and subsequently left her successful role on Housewives for a quieter family life in St. Louis.
Then news broke about her husband’s lack of ability to be faithful. Understandably crushed, Meghan shared a raw and honest blog post about her feelings. While dealing with the drama of Jim’s affair, she mentioned a nagging suspicion that her son, Hart, was experiencing developmental issues.
After taking Hart for a sedated-MRI, Meg finally had results. Go ahead and grab your tissues. According to Radar Online, Hart has “’irreversible brain damage.” The baby boy was diagnosed with Periventricular leukomalacia (PVL). A very simple way of putting it is, Hart basically has holes in his brain. PVL is the type of brain injury that affects premature infants. It is caused by blood vessel failure. When cells die, they break down, this leaves space that eventually fills with fluid.

Meghan explained, “Hart is at risk for being diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and will be monitored.” These are the early stages, where moms are in shock. Sometimes numb with too much information. Meghan should be applauded for being so hands-on with her kids. She admits she had suspected something being amiss with Hart, “Well, I knew. I always knew. I just knew….,” Meghan had taken Hart to see several doctors trying to get answers to her questions.
While waiting for Hart’s MRI results, Jim was with Meghan. She “blankly stared at the cars on the highway” to pass the time. “Those tears were for a lot of things, but mostly the unknown and mostly Hart,” she said.

Meghan’s tenacity for results is definitely in Hart’s favor. With the aid of early-intervention, the future is bright. Meghan said she “remains positive and grateful for her son.” For “the first time in weeks”, Meg met with her husband to discuss Hart’s condition. “I explained to Jimmy how we are not somehow compromised or punished for having a child with special needs (whatever that may or may not mean!), we are BLESSED.”
Meghan is not letting this diagnosis stop her from moving forward. She believes being Hart’s mother is a “gift.” She added that she is still praying “for a miracle” as she learns how to “navigate his life.” I hope Meghan and her family will receive nothing but support as they set forth on the road ahead. Much love and good vibes to Meghan and her kids.
