My winged eyeliner has been sharpened and ready! The Hills: New Beginnings has returned and dug up brought back some favorites from the early years of reality television. Along with familiar names like new moms Audrina Patridge and Whitney Port, Brody Jenner is showing up too. My boyfriend Justin Bobby Brescia and his flowing locks are back on my radar, thank goodness! Heidi Montag and crystal-carrying Spencer Pratt return as well. Of COURSE, they are. After years of begging and showing up to envelope openings, Speidi is being introduced to a whole new generation.
Coming along for the ride is new cast-member, Mischa Barton. She joins Brandon Lee to shake up the original crew and cause some drama. Of course, Mischa has already been through the dramatic ringer in her life. After achieving fame at a young age, she has admitted having past issues with drugs and alcohol.
Naturally, Spencer has lots to say about his desperate return to television. He also has lots to say about some of his new friends. One thing is for sure, hanging giant crystals around your neck doesn’t necessarily grant people the power to be nice.
In his recap for Cosmopolitan, Spencer says, “I’ve got some skeletons to shake out with every person in this cast.” Oh goody! Here we go, the never shy Spencer is speaking and once he starts, you can bet your bottom dollar he won’t stop. First up to the plate is newbie Mischa. Normally I would advise people to tread carefully around a nutbag gentleman like Spencer, but Mischa has that British “I don’t give a flying f*ck” attitude going for her.
When asked if he will be friendly with Mischa, Spencer says, “I don’t think we’ll be enemies. We’ll see if she starts talking shit in testimonials. I think that’s where she’s gonna pop off and release all that sideways shade we haven’t seen yet. I’m hoping she gets more comfortable and becomes a fly-on-the-wall shit talker. I can respect that.”
Same. I like a straight shooter, which is why I cannot bring myself to fully hate Spencer. At least he’s somewhat honest about being a total dumpster fire. But his semi-nice words about Mischa come with a price tag. And that price tag can get pretty expensive. Spencer says Mischa ALLEGEDLY likes to drink booze on the down low.

Spencer claims Mischa wouldn’t drink on camera, but alleged that she did so as soon as filming stopped. He shared, “Let me tell you — whoa, spoiler alert — the first time I shot a scene with Mischa, we were having dinner and she wouldn’t drink any white wine,” he explained. “They kept asking and she’s all ‘No, no, I don’t drink.’ Second those cameras were down, home girl downs three glasses like it’s a competition.”
Mischa’s inclusion in the show is her return to television after falling on hard times. And now we have Spencer reporting on her drinking habits, what else is he going to do? Brought on as a friend of Spencer’s sister, Mischa and Stephanie Pratt have bonded over mutual struggles they shared in their youth. Stephanie was arrested after she overdosed while shoplifting when she was a teenager. Stephanie was sober for years, but was holding a champagne glass on the most recent episode of The Hills. I’m guessing the no-alcohol days might be over?

Being friends with Stephanie’s new face certainly won’t endear Mischa to Spencer. He and Stephanie have always had a less than stellar relationship. Spencer will comment on what an ant has for lunch if you ask his opinion on it. It won’t take long for him to turn to his next victim, it never does. We’ll have to wait and see if Mischa has any words for Spencer in return.
