Paolo Mayfield and Russ Mayfield became parents on the last episode of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After. Pao wanted a natural birth and decided to labor at home with a midwife. Russ and Pao’s mother both expressed concern at her decision.
But despite the reservations, Axel was born without complications on January 1 at 12:22 am. Pao shared her home birth experience on the show. This rock star mama did it without any pain management.
Pao and Russ spoke to US Weekly to dish on their new lives as parents. Pao described the birth experience, saying “What an amazing way to start a new year, while I was hearing the fireworks and people telling me ‘Happy New Year,’ I just focused on meeting my baby. It wasn’t easy but it was totally worth it.”
Russ and his mother-in-law made up Pao’s labor posse. Russ praised his wife, “I was at Pao’s side the entire time and am so proud of how amazing she did pushing our son out into the world. Momma and baby are doing great and I have so much pride when I see us all together. Axel is such a calm and sweet little boy and am happy to say I’m one proud father.”

Fans of the show also got to see the couple’s first few hours with their son. Pao and Russ disagreed on the correct way to hold Axel, but were otherwise clearly in awe parenthood. Pao remarked, “My little miracle so beautiful and calm. I feel so blessed and I can’t believe I am a mom now! I’m ready to start this new adventure and to be the best mom for baby Axel.”
So, do Russ and Pao have plans to add to their family? Russ is enthusiastic about the idea, “I would love Axel to have at least one more sibling.” Pao is less than enthusiastic. She joked, “do it yourself. I need a break. I’m done.”
