On last night’s episode of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way, one hopeful romantic was left stranded at the airport. Are you really surprised, when you look at this cast? All signs point to more than one person getting scammed out of their savings. What is surprising to me is that most of the American families seem to be taking their loved one leaving pretty well.
Maybe I come from a family who doesn’t care about hurting my feelings. I can guarantee my family would tell me I was making a mistake at every opportunity! Get ready to grab your popcorn and let’s judge people in the court of public opinion, for a bit.
Jenny, 60 (Palm Springs, California) & Sumit, 30 (India)
Jenny is celebrating Christmas early with her family before she leaves to go to India. She is leaving behind four daughters and a host of grandchildren for her love, Sumit. Her family fears the worst with her moving to another country without any real support. Jenny’s daughters are more supportive than I would have been. She is giving up A LOT at an older age. She will miss out on all her family’s special moments and will not have anyone to take care of her if things go awry. All you would have to do is take her glasses and she would be completely at someone’s mercy. Sumit you are definitely getting the side eye right now…
Jenny has an emotional goodbye at the airport with her family. I still can’t believe none of her daughters are giving her any issues about leaving. I love that they are supportive, but the reality is Jenny is getting older and they will have to entrust a man they barely know with her well-being.
Sumit prepares to lie to his parents and tell them he is moving out for job opportunity. In actuality, he is leaving so he can live in peace with his geriatric girlfriend, Jenny. Producers are scrambling because Sumit goes radio silent after entering his parent’s home and doesn’t answer any of their calls.
Jenny arrives in India and is nervous when she doesn’t see him and her phone isn’t working. It broke my heart watching her anxiety. She reminds me of a sweet, innocent grandmother. I couldn’t imagine my grandmother stranded in another country. I guess we will have to wait until next week to see if Sumit’s family locked him in the house after he attempted to escape leave. I’m sure the cameras following him around didn’t make his family suspicious at all. SMH…
Paul, 35 (Louisville, Kentucky) & Karine, 22 (Brazil)
Paul Staehle is still taking his frustrations out on his mother due to having to postpone his trip to Brazil. He calls Karine Staehle to let her know about his predicament. She doesn’t believe a word he is saying. Karine is livid that Paul just takes two bags, rather than wait another 30 days. You should have listened to your mother, Paul! I don’t know why Karine is crying, I know she is pregnant but is she aware of what she is asking for? I would think she is better off without him nagging her with his paranoia all day. That man could drive even the calmest person crazy.
On the day of his departure, Paul’s mother leaves her son with a precious gift. She gives him a necklace that will probably turn his neck green and a lock of her hair. This is the second time she has given him her hair on a sendoff. I am still wondering why…. Will the hair protect him on his journey or can he hold it and pretend to hug his mother? What the hell is the purpose????????? Besides the obvious, that they are both very strange people. Oh, Karine, what have you gotten yourself into having a child with Paul?
Corey, 31 (Mill A, Washington) & Evelin, 26 (Ecuador)
Corey is forced to break the news to his family that he moving to Ecuador permanently to be with Evelin. I am sure this will be a huge adjustment for this close-knit family that all live in a compound together. He also reveals that he intends to propose to Evelin and apply for citizenship. His parents point out that he seems like he is doing all of the giving while Evelin is doing all of the receiving in the relationship. Corey even gave her money to start a cocktail bar, that is in her name. SMH… this is reading like a page out of the scam handbook. Page one, find a sheltered American that is eager to please….
Corey is on his way to the doctor’s office to get his shots. He is deathly afraid of shots and gets a dose of reality about the health risks going to a third world country. He literally has to psych himself up to get a shot.
Laura, 51 (Eustis, Florida) & Aladin, 29 (Qatar)
We meet Laura who is moving to be with her boy toy, Aladin in Qatar. They talked on social media for eight months before traveling to meet him in person. During the visit, he proposed only three days after she arrived. Aladin is a young, attractive and a personal trainer. Hmm… that doesn’t seem like a set up at all. Sigh!
Laura is twenty years his senior and worries her relationship may be too good to be true. You think?? I think you should go with that thought, Laura! Clearly, her hormones are making the decisions because she stares at him like a lion ready to pounce. Ewww… This is very reminiscent of a previous couple we all know, on this franchise. Angela Deem and had that same predatory look and we see how that worked out.
Laura has trust issues due to her ex-husband cheating on her during their marriage. Despite all of this, she is leaving her family, two dogs and lifestyle behind to move to Qatar. This will be one hell of a culture shock. Her new lifestyle will be much more conservative and restrictive than she is accustomed to now. Does anyone else see the red flags flapping in the wind as the alarm bells ring?
TELL US – WHAT DO YOU THINK HAPPENED WHEN SUMIT TOLD HIS FAMILY HE WAS MOVING OUT? WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT EVELIN HAVING THE COCKTAIL BAR IN HER NAME ONLY? WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS AFTER MEETING LAURA AND ALADIN?
