Below Deck Mediterranean, the younger sibling to Below Deck, has been one of the most successful reality show spinoffs. Understandably so, as the opportunity to watch beautiful people in stunning locations exhibiting sometimes ugly behavior is just too good to resist! Too much food, too much alcohol and non-stop drama make for great television. Last season, the yacht crew and guests sailed into the beautiful ports of Italy, which made me want to chuck it all and fudge my resume to apply to be a deckhand.
During Season 3, we were treated to crew hook-ups, unruly guests, alcohol-fueled melt-downs and endless tension between Captain Sandy Yawn and Chief Stewardess Hannah Ferrier. And now, the wait for a new season of merriment on the high seas is just about over!
Bravo has just released the Below Deck Mediterranean trailer for Season 4 and it looks like we are in for a wild boat ride, this time in the glamorous locales of Southern France. Back for a season of luxury yachting are Captain Sandy, Hannah, Joao Franco and everybody’s favorite deckhand Colin Macy-O’Toole. And five new crew members have been added to the mix.
Hannah seems to have turned over a new leaf by dramatically announcing in the trailer, “I feel like this charter season my job is my number one priority.” Even though it took Hannah four seasons to realize that smoking, drinking, hooking up and emotional meltdowns were not part of her job description, I am still impressed. I guess all those HR pep talks with an understanding Captain Sandy really paid off!
Joao, always Captain Sandy’s favorite has, unsurprisingly, been promoted to Bosun after last season’s endless brown nosing of her. However, it looks like he will be facing some of the same insubordination from his crew that he himself exhibited as a deckhand last year. They say karma is a…

So, just who are the new crew members? The new seafaring cast includes Second Stew Aesha Scott, Third Stew Anastasia Surmava, Deckhand Travis Michalzik and Deckhand Jack Stirrup (what a name!).
Rounding out the mix is someone the Below Deck franchise has never seen before. Namely, a woman helming the kitchen-Chef Mila Kolomeitseva, who Captain Sandy touts as “Cordon Bleu-trained out of Paris.” However, Hannah doesn’t seem as impressed with Mila’s resume as she confronts her in the trailer with, “You don’t know how to make f—ing pancake batter, that’s a bit of a problem.” I guess Hannah didn’t read the “Getting Along With Co-Workers” section of her employee handbook before filming!

From what is shown in the trailer, the new crew is not only ready to serve the charter guests, but is also ready to serve up drama with wild clubbing, crew hookups, and arguments over everything from workplace respect to homophobia. See Captain Sandy on the bridge for all questions on luxury yacht HR policy and procedure.
And a season of Below Deck Mediterranean wouldn’t be complete without at least one employee called to that same bridge for “employee performance issues.” This season, it appears that Captain Sandy fires someone, saying, “I have to let you go.” A yachtie firing would be a first for the Captain. I wonder if she phoned termination happy Captain Lee Rosbach for pointers?

The trailer also reveals that yacht guests will continue to receive great service from the crew, including five-star meals and having their every whim catered to. Maybe the most exciting development for guests will be that it appears the budget for table settings has been upgraded from the Dollar Store to the local Home Goods of the French Riviera. Long overdue! You can only do so much with colorful glass pebbles and shiny plastic Mardi Gras beads!
The most dramatic part of the season may be the yacht taking on water during rough seas, which looks like complete chaos. But we all know that a Below Deck season wouldn’t be complete without a yachting emergency-like a fire, a man overboard…or Hannah in need of an immediate smoke break.
Below Deck Mediterranean premieres on Monday, June 3.
