Everyone says “new year, new me,” but all know that rarely happens. Instead I like to be more realistic with my expectations for each new year. What’s my take on the old adage? “new year, new shows.”
And there are plenty of shows returning to Lifetime in January 2019. Married At First Sight, The Rap Game, and Bring It will be blessing us with some new episodes next year.
The Rap Game
According to a press release from Lifetime, Jermaine Dupri will be back with The Rap Game for Season 5 on Thursday January 10. The first episode is on at 9PM on Lifetime. It will return to its regularly scheduled time at 10PM. Six young rappers will “freestyle, flow and rhyme their way to a life-changing prize.” Jermaine signs the winner to a contract with his own label So So Def Recordings. Aside from Jermaine, other artists will pop in to mentor the young rappers including Will.I.Am, Lil Jon, Xscape, Killer Mike, Rapsody and Jacquees.
Bring It!
Bring It! returns to Lifetime on Thursday January 17 at 9PM. Coach D has a major change in store for her dance team. She breaks her own number one rule. For the first time ever, she is letting boys on her dance time. These dancers are already super competitive as it is. How are they going to cope with such a major change to their team? I’m predicting some tension.
Married At First Sight
Married At First Sight returns to Lifetime in January. This time the show will match singles in Philadelphia who agree to get married to strangers at the altar. That’s right, there’s no texting back and forth or any kind of lead in. They show up to the altar, introduce themselves, and get married right then and there.
They are set up by a team of experts and the entire experiment is just extremely fascinating. It’s definitely worth the watch. Married at First Sight is back on Tuesday January 1 at 8PM with the Matchmaking Special followed by a 2-hour premiere at 9PM.
