After a long wait, Real Housewives of New Jersey is back for Season 9. We didn’t get much action during the premiere episode, but we did get to “catch up” with all the cast members. Plus, they laid the foundation for some future storylines. All in all, it was great to have them back on TV.
The OG herself Teresa Giudice and Dolores Catania joined Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live to discuss the premiere, plastic surgery, and all things Jersey.
Anyone who follows Andy on Twitter, is well-aware of how much he has been hyping up Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 9. With that said, it is not surprising that he told Teresa and Dolores, “I love this season so much. I’ve been going nuts over it. I’m ten episodes into the season. It’s phenomenal.” If only we all had the privilege of watching the episodes early. He really is living the dream.
Andy asked the audience if Dolores can trust ex-husband/current roommate Frank Catania after he lied to her about getting disbarred. Awkwardly enough, Andy asked Dolores about this during the Season 8 reunion and Dolores denied it, thinking that she was speaking the truth at the time. The audience said “no,” but Dolores emphatically said “yes.” Frank was actually in the audience and insisted that she can “100%” trust him. Weirdly enough, I feel the same way, although I have to admit that I have a soft spot for him.
Dolores explained, “I know Frank well enough to know why he didn’t tell me… because he felt bad. He took it like a man, but to come to me and tell me, he didn’t want me to worry. It was right before the holidays. Then the longer it took, I guess he figured that he didn’t know how to tell me.”
Dolores looked at Andy and said, “When you asked me and I told you no. I found out the next day after the reunion.” She admitted, “I called him and said ‘You made me lie to my boss. You made me look like a jerk in front of all these people.’ I wouldn’t have lied about that.”
Switching gears completely, Andy told Teresa, “Number one question we’ve been getting for you. Have you enhanced your face at all?” She told him, “No,” even though she did look… a little different. Andy asked, “Fillers?” She answered, “I get Botox.” Then Andy got more specific and asked, ” OK, but any fillers in the cheeks?” She denied it before he pointed out that they “look a little rounder.”
When Andy asked, “The lips?” Teresa admitted, “A little.” Finally.
A caller wanted
Dolores to name three nice things about
Danielle Staub. Instead of being shady, she shared, “She likes dogs, she’s a good mom, and she’s a good dancer.” Considering that Dolores infamously referred to Danielle as a “scumbag” last season, this list of nice things is actually pretty surprising.
As the only OG left on the show,
Teresa gets asked about the possibility of returning cast members in pretty much every interview she does. It may be an annoying question, but it has to be a much easier topic to address than her
husband’s impending deportation to Italy.
Who would
Teresa bring back? She said, “That’s easy. Who I would want to come back is
Dina [Manzo], of course. I talk to her all the time. I love her.”
Andy had another shade-inducing suggestion: Dina’s older sister
Caroline Manzo. He told Teresa, “I would be excited if Caroline came back.” As expected Teresa remarked, “I wouldn’t.” What if we just bring back all of the OG’s? There is still
a lot of tension brewing between those ladies.
A viewer emailed to ask “Do you both believe
Melissa [Gorga] that she’s the main breadwinner for the Gorgas now? Or was that just Drunk Melissa talking?”
Dolores said “We don’t know. I mean, I don’t know what goes on behind closed doors.”
Teresa agreed and added, “I don’t think so. My brother
[Joe Gorga] is a very hard worker.” She also remarked, “I’ve never seen anybody who works so hard.”
Teresa and
Dolores also shared their thoughts on the new Housewives
Jackie Goldschneider and
Jennifer Aydin. Teresa said, “I think they’re a great addition.” Dolores added, “They’re a great addition to the cast. They both bring a different element to it.” Teresa followed up to say that they bring “different cultures” to the show. She said, “You get to see Turkish, Jewish, Italian. I love it.”
And then the episode ended with Andy and Teresa kissing on the lips thanks to the encouragement from a caller. How awkward.
