I don’t know about y’all, but I am loving pretty much every second of this season’s Real Housewives of Atlanta. Between dying over NeNe Leakes’ amazing closet (and her rekindled friendship with Marlo Hampton!) and feeling sympathy for Kenya Moore (never thought I’d type that!), this season is everything. Sheree Whitfield’s hair. Awesome. Cynthia Bailey’s dating life. I’m here for it!
Of course, Kandi Burruss usually tries to stay out of the fray when it comes to the ladies’ drama, but thanks to a nasty rumor last year started by Phaedra Parks and perpetuated by Porsha Williams, she hasn’t succeeded as much as she’d like. This season, with Phaedra gone, Kandi is doing her best to avoid Porsha without making the other women uncomfortable. However, this week, NeNe came for Porsha and stood up for Kandi all in the same screaming match.
Kandi discusses that ill-fated (so far) girls’ trip to San Francisco. In an interview with Bravo, she opens up about learning about Sheree’s secret beau and sidestepping Porsha. She recalls, “I was surprised that Shereé was opening up about her relationship, and yes — I was definitely surprised to hear that he was incarcerated. She didn’t strike me as the type that would date a man who was doing time.” That’s just Phaedra, right?
When asked if it was hard traveling with Porsha, Kandi remains diplomatic, explaining, “It wasn’t difficult; there were more than enough of the other ladies on the trip for me to not have to interact with her that much.”
And avoid her she did, until Porsha and NeNe got into yet again at dinner on their first night in the city. While their argument stemmed from NeNe’s no holds barred Watch What Happens Live appearance, she quickly reminded Porsha that Phaedra wasn’t the only one who tried to hurt Kandi’s reputation.
Responding to a question about her take on the pair’s confrontation, Kandi shares, “I was shocked to hear my name come up in their argument. I didn’t realize that NeNe felt that strongly about Porsha needing to have some penalty for making the false drug accusations about me,” adding, “Personally, I was trying to stay away from the topic because I didn’t want to relive last season all over again, but I did appreciate NeNe having my back on the subject.”
I also was glad to see NeNe sticking up for Kandi…almost as much as I loved seeing Marlo fixing NeNe’s bun as NeNe screamed obscenities at Porsha.
TELL US – DOES NENE REALLY HAVE KANDI’S BACK OR IS JUST ANOTHER CONVENIENT ISSUE FOR HER TO USE IN HER BATTLE AGAINST PORSHA?
