Jason Hoppy has been the source of much speculation and – according to the Manhattan Supreme Court – continued stalking of ex-wife Real Housewives Of New York star Bethenny Frankel. Two new counts of stalking were added to the three Hoppy was already charged with back in January, after he allegedly told Bethenny, “I will destroy you, you can get all the lawyers you want, you’ve been warned,” at their 6-year old daughter Bryn’s school.
After the January incident, plus sending approximately 160 threatening emails to Bethenny over a period of months, Jason was charged with aggravated harassment in the first degree, harassment in the second degree and stalking in the fourth degree. Since then, Jason has asked the judge to throw the case out, even refusing a plea deal (which demanded he take anger management classes) to put the case to rest. Instead of complying with Jason’s requests, however, Judge Phyllis Chu slapped him with two more charges – due perhaps to new evidence submitted in the case.
An October 1st text from Jason’s phone showed possible evidence of premeditated harassment – or at the very least, a pointed threat – if Bethenny didn’t comply with his requests. His text read, “We could have a much different relationship but you’re unwilling to shut your mouth about me and my daughter [a]nd refuse to cooperate. Ball[’]s in your court to change it. I’m happy to meet to discuss. And you know you’re the problem. But if not I wil[l] proceed as I see fit.”
Page Six reports the text came one day after Bethenny requested that Jason “leave her alone.” Another text from Sept 30th read, “Love how you [s]peak in the phone. You really have problems. Have a great weekend. She (6-year-old daughter Bryn) loves me so much. It’s amazing the love a daughter has for her father and visa versa.”

Bethenny has been court-ordered to keep (somewhat) mum on the particulars surrounding her divorce from Jason and its aftermath, but viewers of RHONY have seen her break down on camera, claiming that life with her ex is “torture.”
Ramona Singer, who’s currently on the outs with Bethenny, even commented in a recent interview that Jason is “evil,” noting how he has harassed Bethenny over the years since their 2012 split. “He’s actually very sadistic in what he does to her, and I’ve seen some of the things he’s said. It’s very evil, in my opinion,” Ramona told The Jenny McCarthy Show. She also alleged that Bethenny’s behavior this season is heavily influenced by the constant drama she’s embroiled in with Jason.
Since we are now in the post-Christmas window of RHONY episodes, it follows that the January 27th incident at Bryn’s school will take place during during filming. How Bethenny will handle it on the show or what she’ll be able to say are still unknown.
Judge Chu made it clear what she had to say, though. She extended the court order of protection for Bethenny yesterday, clearly instructing Jason to stay away from her. She reiterated in court, “That means you have to stay away from her and [refrain] from making outreach to her. Do you understand?” Jason said, “Yes.” But something tells me this won’t be the end.
