They are really pushing this “love triangle” story line this season on Southern Charm. Sure, Shep Rose was into Chelsea Meissner, but was he really that into her? I highly doubt it. I really do not think Austen Kroll did anything wrong by pursuing Chelsea, especially since Shep was still playing the field.
Austen had a serious interest in Chelsea right from the start which was a stark contrast to Shep’s interaction with her. Don’t get me wrong, I love Shep, but this story line needs to end. First off, I’m totally in the dark when it comes to Chelsea’s appeal. Yes, I like her, but why is everyone fawning all over her? Can we get back to focusing on Kathryn or exposing Landon for her fakery? That’s what I want to watch.

Austen talked all about this “love triangle” in an interview with Decider. He explained, “I think that if the roles were reversed there is no way in hell that Shep would have called me and said, ‘Hey, just so you know…’”
Exactly. So I have no idea why Shep even cared. He would have never given Austen that kind of courtesy call. Not in a million years.
Austen continued, “Like I said the whole time, I wasn’t doing anything wrong. It’s not like we were sleeping together behind his back. I took her to a polo match and that’s it.” Plus it was a cast event that was filmed for the show. They both probably had to go anyway.
He added, “I wanted to tell him earlier but I didn’t want to ruin Shep’s birthday. I thought that was a great move on my part. He had a great night that night, I assure you, so I told him at the next available time.”

I agree. I live for Shep, but I’m so #TeamAusten on this one. I’m still mystified by the Helen of Troy style appeal that Chelsea has, but I don’t think Austen did anything wrong.
Apparently I’m not the only one who feels this way since Austen shared, “For the most part, people are like, ‘Oh, my God that’s so great, I’m so happy for you and Chelsea and I can’t wait to see where it goes.’ For the most part, people don’t think that I broke bro code because they’re like, ‘Let’s look at Shep’s track record.’”
“He’s very open about it, he made out with this girl on the roof when we all went out together, and then on the boat he’s talking about trying to have a threesome. So if people look past that and they are still like #TeamShep, then they’re just blind.”
Nevertheless, the bromance still seems to be going strong. Austen revealed, “We are still good friends and I see him often.” There you have it. Now I just hope that this thing doesn’t drag out for the whole season. I prefer to focus on the Landon and Thomas Ravenel awkwardness and Kathryn’s comeback, but then again, I’m not the one putting these episodes together… unfortunately.
