The long arm of the law has finally caught up with Love & Hip Hop Atlanta's Stevie J. And no it is not over a shooting at a funeral or for allegedly abusing his current girlfriend. TMZ is reporting that Stevie J was arrested on failure to pay child support. Child support that he has not paid in over 13 years!
It is also against the law to leave a state in which you owe more than $10,000 in back child support. It is not clear if these charges were filed as well, but the child support is due in NYC and he films in Georgia…so I would say he is also guilty of violating the Child Support Recovery Act.
But none of that is the shocking part. The shocking part is just how much he owes.

According to TMZ Stevie J and his former live-in GF, Carol Bennett a former music industry exec, "had a kid in '97 and '98. In '99 Stevie was ordered to pay around $6,600 a month in child support, which eventually was raised to $8500K."
Stevie J stopped paying in 2001 — according to the criminal complaint. He has not paid a cent since, so the bill kept growing. So now the tab is a whopping $1,107,412.
This has actually been a long time coming. We reported back in October that Carol held a press conference to discuss what was being called a "historical child support case." She had also hired two organizations that specialize in the investigation and recovery of hidden assets. So apparently Carol was not buying what Stevie J was selling as far as how much he is worth. Sounds like a pretty classy guy.
The president of one of the organizations explains, “Our preliminary investigative efforts in Ms. Bennett’s case and have uncovered information which raises huge concerns."
Good for Carol if hiring the recovery companies got the ball rolling on this. The question still remains though. Why did Carol, her attorneys and the state of New York let the bill get so high? He could have been arrested years ago.
TELL US! DO YOU THINK STEVIE J SHOULD HAVE BEEN ARRESTED A LONG TIME AGO? WILL CAROL EVER SEE ANY MONEY FROM STEVIE J?
