Much like the other reality competitions before it, The X Factor needs a revamp. Let's face it, unless it's The Voice, no one is really watching on the daily…or are you? I've never been one for the these shows (although I did get addicted to American Idol back in the day), but I do love to watch a moody Simon Cowell. Plus, who doesn't love to see what color hair Demi Lovato is sporting on any given night?
USA Today is reporting that Simon has grand plans for the upcoming season of the X Factor. He's talking shake-ups, y'all! Simon himself even wants a new role in the production.

Simon produces the show, and he's recently said he is considering cutting back the show to one night a week to keep things fresh. He also hinted about a new panel of judges. While Simon teases that he has some names in mind, he's declined to comment further on any changes. So…where does that leave us? Well, those close to Demi are happy to fill in the blanks!
A source close to Demi tells People that the 21-year-old singer (who has been shared her public battle with additions) is planning to take a break from the show. The insider explains, "She plans to spend next year completely focused on her music," adding, "She had a great run and a good time."
In fact, Demi has recently hinted that her career is headed in a different direction. She recently admitted, "I think ultimately my main thing is singing…maybe movies once in a while, if the right role comes along."
For now, Demi just wants to take it easy. She said, "I will take the month of January completely off! I want to vacation! I want to watch crime shows on my DVR on my couch…I need to do some exercising and I don't really have time to do it. I love horseback riding and never get to do that stuff, but January is my time to do all of that."
I have to say, if this is true, I'll miss Demi on the show I watched every once in a blue hairdo moon!
UPDATE: It's official! Demi announced her departure on the show last night. She explained, "I started the show being a singer and a musician, and so I'm going to go back to that. It's been really great, but I'm so excited for 2014. I'm going to dedicate it completely and entirely to music—touring and making a new album. Possibly releasing one."
