It’s now official. A day after her husband Russell Armstrong revealed they had separated, Taylor Armstrong filed for divorce.
PEOPLE is reporting that the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star filed for divorce late Friday following 6 years of marriage. In fact Taylor herself confirmed the news through a statement.
“It was a difficult decision but I have decided to file for divorce from Russell,” Taylor revealed in an exclusive statement. “Although we have tried our best to work out our differences, I have come to the conclusion that it is in the best interest of our family that we separate.”
Taylor continued, “Together we are the proud parents of a sweet and wonderful little girl and she remains my number one priority. I am sad for my marriage to come to an end, but am confident that this is the right choice for all involved.”
Meanwhile Russell also opened up to the Rumor Fix website. “The pressure of being in the TV spotlight was pretty overwhelming,” he reveals. “It took our manageable problems and made them worse.” Russell described this as a “devastating time,” adding, “I don’t want you to get the impression that Taylor and I are bitter enemies — we’re not.”
UsWeekly first reported the couple had split in May but they denied it back then. The couple had been going through therapy to try to fix their marriage. Taylor, 39, and Russell, 47, tied the knot in 2005 and have one daughter together – Kennedy, 5.
Taylor is asking for joint legal and primary physical custody of Kennedy, as well as spousal and child support. TMZ is also reporting the couple had no prenup. Wowzers.
